Depression and Bipolar Disorder

It is a mood disorder that consists of drastic mood swings, that are at both sides of the pole. Either depression or mania. Rarely in between. Hence the name, BI POLAR.

Manic depression is another reference to bi-polar disorder. ( BI=both POLAR=pole )

There are many different kinds of depressants: barbiturates and benzodiazepines, alcohol, narcotics (opiate derivatives), sedative-hypnotics, antihistamines (such as benadryl,) and some anesthetics (such as ether, chloroform, ketamine and phencyclidine).

Opiates are derived from opium, produced by the opium poppy. Most of the others, with the exception of alcohol, are produced in the laboratory.

The majority of reported cases seem to at least come under stable control, while the clear majority of that seem to get through and are "cured".

Also it's a way of hiding.. putting on a new face so you can show yourself another person. but we usually eat through depression and stay inside so we dont really wear make up when we stay inside

It doesn't cost money to call. You can tell them that you don't want any services that cost money or tell them that you have financial concerns right away.

If you are in that mental place you should probably give them a call- it is possible to live without feeling like crap all the time and I hope you give it a chance. Discuss with them that you have financial concerns first and that the reason you are calling is that you are stable enough to call and ask for help. They don't want to put more stress on a person who is financially unstable so the last thing they want to do is send you a bill.

This depends on the type of psychologist you ask. Many will say a chemical imbalance in the brain, some will say childhood trauma, some might think that it's genetics.

There isn't much you can do other than encourage them, be there for them when you can, and let them realize that you are their friend unconditionally, and as such you need to encourage them to seek medical help. There are doctors who can determine exactly what the problem is.

To some people, sex could be considered a way to cope with their depression. People with depression and bipolar disorder have a high sex drive, and also the attention from another partner could also be a reason why it could be considered a therapy. If you are having serious depression, you need to talk to your doctor about it though. If sex is the only thing keeping a person going, what happens when you can't have sex? There goes your therapy. You need a back up plan or something to fall back on if for some reason the sex therapy for you doesn't work. I still would recommend that you talk to your doctor though, because they know what's right for you and your body.

I have bipolar 2 and according to what I have read, yes bipolar is the same as an organic mood disorder. There is two types of organic mood disorders, those that involve depression only and those that involve bipolar. Bipolar involves periods of depression and periods of mania.

Some of them may be loneliness, sadness, or memory loss. Amnesia or Alzheimers can cause memory loss, and mood swings can cause severe sadness. Try to cheer the up by visiting often.

Some of the causes of depression in elderly persons include:

1. Changes in neurotransmitter levels in the brain that occur with age.

3. Grief. The longer you live, the more of your friends and family members you lose to death. Loss of a spouse tends to hit men the hardest, and the loss of a child hits everyone hard.

4. Lack of a sense of purpose. This seems to affect men more, and some men die shortly after retirement from their job.

5. Changes in the world and a perceived decline in values.

6. Being put in an institution.

7. Loss of physical freedom and mobility from age or handicaps.
