No. While many parts of the outback are desert regions, a large amount is reasonably fertile land, suitable for growing grain crops, or for running sheep and cattle.

The White Desert is 45 kilometres north of the Farafra Oasis, in the New Valley Governorate, about 500 kilometres north of Cairo. In 2002, it was designated as a nature preserve. The White Desert got its name from the white tint that covers the majority of its surface. It contains a big chalk rock and a total size of 3010 square kilometres. Many of the formations in the desert were formed as a result of the area’s occasional sandstorms.

Rain Shadows form on the leeward side of some mountain ranges. The mountains block the flow of moist air and force it to condense and fall as rain on the windward side of the mountain. See the diagram above.

Most desert dwelling animals are crepuscular, that is, they are active during dusk or dawn. The desert temperatures vary in extremes during the day and night. During the day, the desert is hot and most animals seek a cool sheltered place to rest or sleep. Conversely, at night, the desert can be quite cool, deterring animal activity. For this reason, many desert animals come out just as the sun sets, when the temperatures are cool enough so they do not overheat or dehydrate, but return to their place of shelter at night to stay warm when the temperature drops.

In Malaysia There are no deserts. Malaysia is made up of long peninsulas and a series of hilly forested islands, and there are no deserts on islands. I was suprised when I found that out! There are ,however, jungles, caves, beaches, islands and mountains in Malaysia. Hope this helped!

Your average lawn grass cannot grow in the desert because it would simply starve of dehydration. Many grasses that are unable to establish deep root systems quickly during the short rainy season will perish; those that are able to establish a deep root system, are often of the more coarser, hardy varieties than those found on lawns in in the prarie.

For a tropical country like the Philippines, surprisingly, there is one desert that can be found on the northern part of the island of Luzon. Particularly, in La Paz, Ilocos Norte, you can find a 52 sq. mile desert landscape of combined beach and sand dunes.

A desert is a dry area because of the lack of precipitation. Most of the deserts and especially the hot deserts in the world have globally a very high sunshine duration. The deserts don't receive very much precipitation throughout the year, which normally means clouds are rare but not necessarily. For example the Atacama Desert, which is the driest desert in the world is mainly very sunny but cities which surround the desert like Arica are extremely dry and only receive less than 1 mm of rain anually but these desert cities have a high cloud cover and the days are generally foggy. The deserts are sunny for the same reason which makes them dry. The main aridity causes are the subtropical ridge(the descending part of the Hadley Cell), the rain shadow, the continentality or the influence of a cold ocean current, which comes directly from the Poles.

Well usually it is any color. Most of the time though, they use the color tan, as a way to show you are not different. Most people in Indian deserts wear Sari's, but for us, it is usually that we don't care what we wear to the desert.

Easy! The herbivores, ( the jackrabbits, and such) eat off plants in the desert like cactuses, desert fruit, and yeah, you get the point. The omnivores pretty much eat the herbivores and carnivores in the desert so... yeah... get the picture? Good! The carnivores eat the herbivores and omnivores, and that's it. So look at it this way: carnivores=omnivores and herbivores= herbivores or plants= water= :( you get pretty much get it.

All are either cold winter deserts or cool coastal deserts. There are no hot deserts in South America.

The Gobi Desert is in northwest China on the border with Mongolia. It is one of the largest cold deserts in the world. The other is the Taklamakan Desert.
