What escapes digestion and absorption in the small intestine?
Fiber ( roughage, bulk also called Beta glucose and cellellose )
They are the part of plants( cell wall of plants) that we human beings dont have enzymes to break down fiber....but animals like sheep,goat,camel...can digest it very easy because they have enzyme to break down fiber or Beta glucose that is what they eat.....
But humans dont have enzyme to break down Beta glucose or fiber....
which in terms is very good...it helps in constipation or bowl movement...
and also helps in chelesterole control ...
so eat more vegvtables than meat...or balanced diet.
thanks
What is the end product of fat digestion and where is it released into?
There are two products of fat digestion: fatty acids and glycerol. As with all digested food, they are produced in the small intestine, and pass through its wall into the blood capillaries, which join together to make the hepatic portal vein which carries the food to the liver for processing.
Is sorbitol absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract?
Sorbitol is poorly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract as it has a low lipid solubility.
Why do people with gallstones have difficulty digesting certain foods?
Gallstones block the bile duct preventing bile from entering the small intestine. Bile is needed to physically breakdown lipids
Where do the secretions that produce the alkaline condition in the small intestines originate?
It's the liver and gall bladder.... ;)
Why does the human digestive system need glandular tissue?
The human digestive system needs glandular tissue to secrete the many substances needed to break down food both mechanically and chemically. Saliva and bile help with the physical breakdown of food. Many other substances, including gastric secretions and pancreatic fluid, assist with chemical breakdown of food.
endothermic
How is food pushed down the gullet?
It's peristaltic action, sort of like squeezing water along a flexible hose.
Does digestion start before peristalsis takes place?
Yes, digestion starts in the mouth, before peristalsis takes place. The mouth breaks up food, and starts the chemical digestion of starches.
Can you pass gas on command by telling your body to pass gas?
Perhaps, if you have enough gas in the intestinal tract.
Does the small intestine have mechanical or chemical digestion?
Yes, in part. Chemical digestion occurs in the mouth (saliva), stomach (gastric acid) and small intestine. The nutrients are mostly absorbed in the walls (lining) of the small intestine.
What happens to food that is not digested in the small intestine?
It is passed along to the large intestine, where water and other substances are absorbed. Helpful bacteria in the large intestine can break down undigested materials into soluble forms, including some important vitamins.
Which parts of the digestive system aid in chemical digestion?
Is the stomach but begins in the mouth.
What organ of the digestive system has increased surface area?
The stomach which is lined with ridges called Rugae
the small intestines, lined with vili and micro-vili
Can too much calcium in the body cause constipation?
no, but it can cause liver problems
Hypercalcemia (too much calcium in the blood) can cause abdominal pain
The lysosome will expel all of its enzymes directly into the cytoplasm of the cell to destroy the cell and its organelles.
Who was the fictional giant king noted for his huge appetite?

But you dont have to write king.
Who is this?
i have the same question in a LA packet....
Do red blood cells help digestion?
Red blood cells have only one function, which is to transport oxygen. This has no direct connection to digestion, although without oxygen the body would die, and no digestion would take place after death.
