Siemens dishwasher will not drain?

If the dishwasher is hooked into a garburetor, there is a plug in the garburetor where the hose drain attaches that needs to be knocked out. Can drano be used in a dishwasher?

I strongly advise against using drano. The drain line from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal is pretty short. Try running your dishwasher and fill up your sink, when your dishwasher starts to drain, pull the plug on the sink and start your garbage disposal. You may be able to get away with using Drano a few times, but the thin plastic tube will be made brittle and possibly break in the future, also you will want to run it empty a few times if you do use a chemical. Odds are the clog is at the drain and you have some clearly nasty junk clogging it that will require some manual work. I recommend cutting up a coat hanger and bending a small hook on the end to clean it out.

There could be other electrical / mechanical issues with your dishwasher, you may want to have a trusted service technician take a look.

Why does the water from the disposal side of the double sink drain into the dishwasher?

Probably the drain hose from the dishwasher isn't high enough to keep the water from running back . The hose should be above the level of the disposal at some point.

Some states require an "air gap" which is a device that is placed in the drain line to prevent this. Some states require a simple high loop in the drain hose. Many dishwasher manufacturers are now installing backflow preventers in the dishwasher.

Can water that's too hot break glass in a dishwasher?

Glass does not typically "break" at any temperature. If you want to be technical, the melting point of glass is 2600-2900 °F, which is much (much) hotter than a dishwasher is capable of.

When things are hot, they grow very slightly larger due to their molecular composition. When something is hot and is suddenly made much cooler, it will quickly shrink back to normal. When fragile things like glass are cooled down too fast, the shape change is enough to crack or break them, especially if the glass already has hairline cracks.

How do you clean dishwasher out when you don't use it often and you put your hand wash dishes back in the dishwasher and there is black forming back on the clean dish?

I suggest running the dishwasher with detergent and about a quarter cup of laundry bleach. Let run the full cycle at high heat. Even if a dishwasher is not used often there is still moisture in it, the black is most likely some type of mold.

Can the dishwasher be located next to the garbage disposal?

Yes - It's not easy if you put it on the back porch. If you can afford - go for it.

ANS 2 - Back porch ?? - The garbage disposal is what many people call the garburator. -Usually under the kitchen sink and most dishwashers ARE next to it .

Yes. Your dishwasher discharge hose is probably hooked into the side of the disposal. Running your disposal will not hurt the dishwasher.
