On the strut tower, you should see 2 silver relay boxes. the one closest to the engine is the starter relay, next to that is the radiator fan relay. I don't know long this question has been on the site, but I recently had the very same problem and was disappointed to find no answer here. However, with some diligent digging I discovered the solution and will now offer it here. Even if the original questioner has long since moved on from their Dodge Shadow, this may prove useful to someone in the future who has a similar problem. The problem is a faulty relay that's supposed to turn off the light shortly after the key's removed from the ignition but doesn't. The solution is to either replace or remove the relay. I don't need the light, so I pulled the damned thing out, and now I no longer have to keep the battery charger at the ready! To find the relay, look up under the left side of the dashboard. There you will find an array of round metallic electronic components sticking down. The one you want is a little bit bigger around than a roll of life-savers, but not as long -- about an inch and a half. It may be difficult to pull, but yank that sucker straight out and your problem will be over. Or you can replace it for about $20. Good luck!

This is a common complaint with mk2 Golfs, most of which were fitted with a heater matrix bypass valves to prevent the heater matrix from bursting under certain conditions.
These bypass valves can fail, cutting off supply to the heater matrix resulting in no heat.
Either replace the valves or remove them and fit a heater matrix from a mk3 Golf. These are stronger units and don't require bypass valves.
