Head Gasket removal and Installation on 93 Dodge Shadow?
I assume it's a 2.5 liter 4cyl. It's not extremely hard if you have the correct tools. First open the petcock and drain the radiator .Then unbolt the exhaust pipe from the manifold. Then set the engine on top dead center, this is done by lining up the timing marks at the crankshaft and camshaft. Remove the throttle linkage and all the vacum and electrical connections at the cylinder head. Remove the bolts from the valve cover and remove it. Remove the upper timing cover. Remove the drive belts and unbolt and remove the crankshaft pulley. Now remove the lower timing cover and using a crayon or a paint stick mark the position of the timing belt, in relation to all the gears. Then loosen the tensionor bolt and remove the timing belt. Remove the upper radiator hose and the ignition coil from the thermostat housing. Now assuming you have everything disconnected , remove the cylinder headbolts and lift the head off of the engine.
You may need two people, because it's a little heavy and bulky, because you are pulling the head with the manifolds attached. Just reverse the procedure to put it back together.
but make sure that the engine block surfaces are cleaned, and the headbolt holes are cleaned out . and have the cylinder head checked and surfaced before putting it back on.
Also use new headbolts and change the oil and filter before you start it , so you don't get any contaiminants in the engine. Good luck

it could be because all the heads are the same on the 2.2 and 2.5 naturally aspirated and turbo blocks....the only difference is the exhaust valves lol my father has a dodge spirit 2.2 non turbo and i put a turbo valve cover on it just look behind the valve cover....does it have 4 injectors? does it have a 2 1/4" rubber hose coming from behind the intake?

First get a good transmission pan gasket because the trans pan will have to come off to change the fluid, its best to get the gasket with the filter in the kit, its only like 1-2 dollars more and will save you from having to redo it all cause you need a filter... clean the magnet that's on the trans pan, install new filter then install the pan plus gasket... It is best to only use about half a quart of fluid at a time as your putting it in the transmission because its best to use alittle amount of it just incase you have a leak that way you wont waste nothing... ATF+4 is the recommended trans fluid for all Chrysler Transmissions.
