Dog Behavior

Dogs are unable to talk just like we do, but we can still understand their feelings by observing their behavior and body language. It is compulsory that an owner is aware of his dog's body language, as it will not only strengthen their bond, but will also prevent tragic results where the owner is forced to abandon his dog due to behavior problems. In this category, there are questions relating to the different body languages of dogs, their behavior, etc.

There actually could be a lot of reasons why your dog is trembling. My own dog trembles but only when she's begging not to go outside or something. This is a good website to read more info about dog trembling.

Why does a male dog hump even though he's fixed?

It could be one of a couple different things. One is because that's the information he was born with. It's called inborn instinct. Just like the bios in your computer, we all start with a basic set of instructions already implanted to get life going and keep it going. The other reason he could be humping your leg is because it feels good. Basic dog philosophy, it is.

What is the best way to break a dog that is not completely housebroken?

This is training and repetition. Lets say you have to go to work in the am. YOu walk them then, you walk them as soon as you get home, you walk them about an 1/2 hour to hour after each feeding and then you walk them before bedtime. You keep the same routine day after day. If the dog is afraid to go outside, you must associate things that make them happy inside with the outside. You dont leave food and water down for them 24 hours a day. You leave a little water when your out of the home but other than that you only put water down when you feed. Take them to a doggy park and get them to get used to smells of other dogs, that can turn on the faucet quickly. If when they finally do go, whether it one or two try to get a sample and bring it to the vet. Maybe they are constipated or have a urinary tract problem. Good Luck

How do lesbians hump?

Most lesbians don't "hump" as a form of sexual gratification, unless we're talking dry humping, scissoring, or performing with a strap-on. Generally, lesbians engage in intercourse via "fingering" (penetration using the fingers) or oral sex (stimulation of the genitalia with your mouth).

Should you rub your dogs nose in there pee if they go inside the house?

No. It is a common mis conception that this will train your dog. Dogs can smell the urine but they wont be able to see it so this will not offer a very good training technique. If you are in the room when your pet pees or takes a dump you should say "no" then run them outside to show them the correct way to do it. Eventually they'll get the idea, though for some dogs it takes longer for them to catch on. Good luck!

Where would you look for your older dog that has wandered off?

All local shelters and rescue groups, local on-line lost and found sites, and petfinder.com, a larger nationwide lost and found site for pets. Also, look in all your local newspapers in the lost and found section. Run an ad in your local papers, sometimes the ads are free for a period of time. Run the ad as long as you can because it can sometimes take several weeks for a pet to surface after disappearing. A listing on petfinder.com is free and you can list there as long as you want to but you have to list in after about two weeks I think it is. Hope this helps.

Also try going around your neighborhood, they might have gotten out, and wandered around.

Will a male dog mate if he is fixed?

No. He might try, depending on how old he was when he was fixed and how recently he was fixed. He might not totally lose interest. But since fixing, or neutering, a dog means removing his testicles, he will no longer be able to produce sperm. Ordinarily traits like interest in females, aggression, wandering, and so on will die away once he is neutered.

How can you train your dog to bark?

This is actually VERY VERY simple to teach a dog. Don't attempt to try and train it this before avout 6 months or it will bark ALL THE TIME. If you have a small dog you need treats and a toy but if you have a big dog usually a toy will do it. What you do is you get them all excited about playing with a toy. after about 2 minutes of waiting the dog might bark. When it barks say speak. Do this for about 30 minutes a day. No less then 15 or the dog will forget. after a week or so get rid of the toy and just tell it to speak. If it does not reply to the command, do it with a toy again for a day or so. If the dog barks when it wants attention, ignore it. It will think that if it barks when not spoken to, it will get attention. DO NOT give it what it wants or it will become very greedy. After about 2 or three weeks of doing this, your dog should bark when told. Hope it works. It worked for all my dogs

What if dog is obsessively licking their mouth and nose?

I'd take this one to the vet. My yellow lab used to do that and it wasn't until I noticed a lump under his chin area that I discovered he had lymphoma, a type of cancer. He was licking in response to a lymph node in his sinus area causing him discomfort.

I don't want to alarm you, but it's also possible that chemo and treatments can delay the offset, while extending their lives for quite awhile.

Then again, it could be something as simple as an allergy. You really need a vet to check the animal.

Why has your dog started leaking urine?

Of the dog is a pup to 15 months old they can piddle from excitement (excited bladder.) They should out-grow this, but if not see your vet as there are medications to control this. If the dog is old then just like the elderly they can lose bladder control. Please see your vet.

How can you get your dog and rabbit to get on?

That is sort of like asking can I get my cat to be nice to our pet mouse. They are by nature not compatable. if raised from kitten and pup, they may learn to get along. However, if they were introduced as adults, You may have no recourse than to just deal with the fact that they will not like each other. Time may get them to tolerate one another, but that is all you can hope for.
