How did Mountain Dew get its name?

Mountain Dew was invented by two Tennessee brothers, Ally and Barny Hartman in the 1940's. It was sold locally around Tennessee before the formula was revised in 1958 by Bill Bridgforth. In 1964 the rights to the drink were bought by Pepsico, who marketed the drink all over the U.S. The first editions of Mountain Dew were Diet Mountain dew and Mountain Dew red, both in 1988. Mountain Dew red was discontinued in the same year as it's release, but was bought back in the 2000's as "Code Red", although it tasted different.

Mountain Dew was renamed Mtn Dew in the 2000's to appeal more to a "younger" audience. The brand also sponsors sporting events such as skateboarding. Mountain Dew has 13 active-non limited edition flavours as of August 2011. The company plans to turn international soon, spreading over to the U.K in 2010.

Does water have flavor?

PURE water has no taste as it is just H2O. However tap water usually has ions (magnesium, calcium etc) in it giving it a slight taste of that ion. But these ions are harmless and in the case of hard water (water with magnesium and calcium ions in) have been linked to lowering your chance of cardiovascular diseases

What are the comparisons between soy milk and cow's milk?

It isn't, necessarily. Soy milk is derived from soy beans (a plant), so soy milk is free of lactose, a protein which is found in cow milk, and also contains much lower levels of saturated fats and cholesterol. On its own, soy milk does not contain much calcium, so this is generally added by manufacturers. Soy milk contains hormones that mimic the action of oestrogen in the human body which may have some health complications for some.

Is it dangerous to drink almond extract?

It seems imitation almond extract usually contains: water, alcohol (25%-40%), and a flavoring bitter almonds. A drop can kill someone with a nut allergy. Also, bitter almonds are poisinous in a small quantity due to the cyanide. Although all almonds and other seeds from similar plants (pits of peaches and apricots for example) contain cyanide, the extract has high concentrations of it. It is ok to use a few drops in a batch of dough, but if you are taking sips of this because you want a little buzz, you are in big trouble.

What does 'milkshake' mean in slang terminology?

Kelis' milkshake means exactly this: Sir Francis Drake, Vice Admiral (c. 1540 - 27 January 1595), was an English privateer, navigator, slaver, and politician of the Elizabethan era. Queen Elizabeth I awarded Drake a knighthood in 1581. He was second-in-command of the English fleet against the Spanish Armada in 1588, subordinate only to Charles Howard and the Queen herself. He died of dysentery after unsuccessfully attacking San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1595. His exploits were legendary, making him a hero to the English but a simple pirate to the Spaniards. To the Spanish he was known as El Draque, "the Dragon";[citation needed] "Draque" is the Spanish pronunciation of "Drake". His name in Latin was Franciscvs Draco. King Philip II was claimed to have offered a reward of 20,000 ducats (about £4m or $8m by modern standards) for his life. He is famous for (among other things) sailing around the world, returning to England in 1580.

Does a latte always have to have coffee?

Put Coffe In It Cream Suger And Vanilla.

no. well you make an espresso first just normal coffee with no milk of sugar. put it in one cup and then you make milk foam. how you make milk foam with no machine is you shake the milk for about 30 secs. then put it into the microwave (depends how hot you want the coffee) then first you put the milk in and then leave abit of foam at the bottom. out the coffee in and wait for it to blend in. then you put the rest of the foam on top and stir well.

That answer above was horrible. Haha. I spend way too much money at coffee shops buying lattes. I found my solution a few months ago. It's called the bialetti mokka pot.

It ranges from $20-60. Pick out some medium to strong coffee that you like. I am in love with Whole Food's Allegro brand Moka Java. Grind it like you do for your normal coffee maker. Fill the bottom of the pot with water, put the coffee in the appropriate piece, turn on the stove, and wait about 2 minutes. The espresso wil come bubbling out of the top and you pour it immediately into your mug. add some hot milk, and youre good to go.i make this every morning. 5min max. I've saved so much money and when my friends come over, i HAVE to make them lattes instead of coffee haha

Can you make coffee with whole coffee beans without grinding them?

You simply can't if you expect to get good coffee. Smashing the beans with a mortar and pestle won't expose enough of the surfaces, but it's probably the only alternative. A food processor will not grind it finely enough. Keep in mind that you don't need an expensive electric model; they make basic manual grinders as well.
