Have set of drums from John Walton mr Walton sold to my husband The drum set is the color red and have the same design as original white drum set Could you tell me if the set has any value?

Unless there's actual proof (Signature, photo or video clip to compare) that the drum kit belonged to John Walton from the band 13th Floor Elevators, it will only be worth as much as its condition allows it to be or its demand by a collector for that brand. If it can be proved that the drum kit in fact did belong to John Walton from the band 13th Floor Elevators, a collector might make you a substantial offer for it.

Should I get Remo Clear Pinstripe Remo Coated Pinstripe or Remo Ebony Pinstripe?

Depends what youre looking for.

Coated heads are generally warmer in tone, not as loud, and are good for funk, latin, blues, and jazz

Clear heads are fatter and brighter in tone, and very loud when tuned low. Ideal for rock and metal.

Ebony heads are a tighter, darker sound and are best tuned tight. They are heads that are good for pretty much anything, but are closer to coated heads than clear ones.

Aside from looking awesome, the pinstripe provides sound control for the heads so with those, you should not need E Rings or StudioRings or Moon Gel or any other dampening material.

I prefer coated heads, then clear, then ebony.

What are the best drum-kits on the market?

That's hard to say since there are sooooo many drum makers out there. First, you have the mass-produced companies (TAMA Pearl,Yamaha, etc.), then the semi-custom companies (DW, Noble and Cooley, Ayotte) then, your smaller "uber-custom" companies (Joyful Noise, Moon, Thumper) that will make each drum to your individual specs.

Do a Google search for "Custom Drums" and you will find a multitude of small custom builders. Prices will range from the hundreds to the thousands.

I think the only way you can determine the "best" is what sounds the best to you. Although the better the craftsmanship will produce a better quality instrument, there isn't in my opinion a "best drumkit".

Hope this helps,

What is the type of drum that begins and ends in the same letter?

There is an African percussion instrument which could be referred to as a drum called an "Udu". The Udu is a jug/gourd shaped instrument. It has an open top & closed bottom with a hole in the side to allow more sound to come out.

When you hit the Udu on top with an open palm it makes a thick bass drum like sound. It's not a traditional drum in the sense that there is no skin to strike. I'm not certain that having a skin is a prerequisite to being classified a drum however it is referred to as such in text books etc.

The Udu functions like a bass drum with in the ensemble, it is struck with a flat, open palm similarly to how you would produce the bass note on a Djembe. Even if some purists out there may not consider the Udu a traditional drum it is definitely a part of the un-tuned percussion family and due to it's functionality within an ensemble is for all intents and purposes, a drum.
