Differences of duck turkey and quail?

Considering all species - nothing consistent. As European man travelled the world, discovering new birds, he named different birds quail and partridge with no knowledge of what they really were. Stone partridge from Africa are smaller than a California quail, Grey/Hungarian partridge are actually pheasants, N American quail are nothing like as related to AAsian quail as are African Francolin. As with so many birds, common names are very useful but meaningless in terms of what the bird is in evolutionary/systematic terms.

How do you keep ducks out of swiming pool?

I have read on several websites that the only fool proof "repellent" is a dog, one that will go in the pool and chase after them. It must be a dog that will go in the water because ducks are smart and brave and will swim in ther anyway, just avoidin the area where the dog is. I was looking for a way to keep ducks out of our garden pond. Some of those suggestions were any kind of constant movement, i.e.: helium balloons, streamers, scarecrows with flowing clothes. However, this is only a temporary fix also, as ducks quickly figure out there is no real threat and will return anyway. Hope this helps!

Why would the present shape of the continents not fit perfectly into the shape of Pangaea and what things might have changed the continents' shapes?

They would fit roughly together but not perfectly due to years and years of erosion.

As evident as Africa and So. America are that they were once joined.

Erosion does not work.

Even with that they will not fit. Try it with cut outs.

But shrink the size of the earths sphere to about 1/2 its size today and they fit perfect.

How can you tell if a goos egg is still alive?

You will want to candle it. To do this, you will need a strong flashlight and a dark room. Go into the room and shut the door, turn out the lights, and shut the shutters. Hold the egg upright, then turn on your flashlight and hold it up against the egg. If the egg has been growing, you should see red vains. If it has not been in an incubator or under a mother goose, put it in one for a bit.

Do squirrels eat baby chicks?

Yes a squirrel will eat baby chicks. I have this problem every time one of my hen's hatch a batch of chicks. There is a big gray squirrel living in the wood pile in the field. He will get so bold as to come into the hen house and steal a chick or two and then run it out to the woodpile. This winter the woodpile goes up in flames. It is now providing the squirrels with a quick place to get to. Once it's gone I don't think they will brave the open field as brazenly.

Will duck eggs hatch with no male?

Absolutely. The hen will produce an egg without a rooster involved. Most eggs you buy in the grocery stores are from hens who have never seen a male bird.

Large egg producers do not keep male birds.
