The purpose of Fasting (Roza) is attaining 'Piety' - Taqwa. Taqwa doesn't mean keeping hungry. It is a kind of restraint on our feelings and emotions. Okay, well, every Muslim should know that they should be clean both from inside and outside. They learn to keep their hearts pure and clean of dirtiness (of cursing, hearing music, etc;) they learn from outside to keep their bodies clean (taking a shower, making wudu, etc;). But that's not the only thing that they learn to do. Every human (and Muslim) learns to keep their house tidy, clean, along with all their other belongings. If you are not Muslim, you can try bribing the students to clean their room, or you can just tell them it's for their own benefit. Make your students happy and they'll make you happy.
