All US states and territories honor each other's requests for extradition - there are no 'safe-haven' states - it is impossible to say with certainty whether a particular state will choose to extradite you or not, there are simply too many variables - usually it depends on the offense and the seriousness of it - most states will USUALLY extradite for felony offenses.
I'm no lawyer, and do not accept this as legal advice.
However, it is unlikely that they will go to the trouble and expense of extradition for a misdemeanor violation. Most likely, they will issue a "bench warrant" which means that if they ever see you again, they'll arrest you. If it's only a misdemeanor, best to clear it up instead of letting it become something bigger and more serious.
How long can Arkansas hold a person waiting on extradition to Michigan?
Once the process has begun there is no statutory limitation on the time it takes. It is a lengthy administrative and legal process to remove a wanted person from one state and return him to another. What are the extradition laws from Arkansas to Reno NV?
The way extradition works is the jurisdiction issueing the warrant sets the terms of the jurisdiction as far as how far they are willing to have someone extradited. All jurisdictions in the United States will hold an offender for extradition provided the issuing jurisdiction is willing to have the offender extradited the given distance. For example someone wanted for not paying a traffic ticket may be set free a few hundred miles from the jurisdition that issued the warrant, while someone wanted for a felony will have a hard time finding a rock to crawl under on this planet.

What are the laws of extradition from the Bahamas?
Its all about the crime. Funning thing about the U.S. they will spend $40,000.00 to get you for $1000.00 crime .
Oh yes the U.S. can ask the Bahmas for you.
In general, No. On a misdemeanor charge extradition over a long distance is generally not going to happen. The State or jurisdiction that has the charge must pay for someone to come pick you up if you are arrested in another State. This is expensive and most jurisdictions will not want to pay this cost so they don't extradite over long distances.

Does your 30 day time limit for extradition start before or after you sign the papers for it?
There is no "minimum time limit for extradition." If the person is being held for extradition - once the process has begun it takes as long as it takes. It is nowhere near as easy as simply driving over the state line and picking them up. A formal inter-state legal and administrative process must be begun and followed in order to legally take custody of the defendant and remove them from one state to another. If you haven't heard anything in 30 days file a Writ of Habeus Corpus to determine where the process stands.
Does Marion county Florida extradite vop for misdemeanor DUI and cannabis under 20 grams?
While each case is different, I can share a personal experience that is very very similar to yours. My partner is 31 years old. When he was 19 years old, he was caught and charged with posession of cannabis under 20 grams, same as you. He was placed on probation and ordered to complete randos drug screenings, community service, and complete substance abuse course. He went to and failed a random drug screening and the substance abuse course (although completed) never submitted the actual certificate noting completion. The PO violated his probation and a warrant was issued for VOP.
Fast forward almost 13 years!! We now live in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA and we were on a plane (at Atlanta Airport) heading to Mexico for a week long vacation. Three Atlanta police officers boarded the aircraft and placed him under arrest. They advised it was for a 12 year old warrant form Florida. He thought this had just went away. Now, bfore you start attacking, he ASSUMED it had gone away because he had been in two accidents, stopped by three police officers and issued a Passport, without anything ever coming up. Mind you, he should have not ASSUMED anything!
The Atlanta Police transported him to Clayton County Detention Center and the notified him that Marion County confirmed that they would extradite him back to FL to face the charges.
Let me remind you, this is a 1st Degree Misdemeanor, not a felony!
Five days at the Clayton County Detention Center and then federal officials arrive to transport him to FL. They picked him up at 1AM int he morning and he arrived at 6PM that evening.
He went before the judge the next morning and was advised there was NO BOND for a VOP and he was staying in until his court date over a month later.
We hired an Attorney and he got the ball rolling QUICK... He was able to move his hearing up and got him in front of a judge exactly two weeks to the day he was arrested.
At the hearing the judge was stern and we truly feel that if he were not being represneted by a competent attorney, this judge would have palced him in jail for up to a year.
At the end of the day, he was fined, sentenced to 14 days in county jail (with credit for time served) and released.
I read where MANY MANY people had said they would not extradite for a VOP that is a misdemeanor. I am here to tell you that they will..
If you suspect that your are int he same or a similar situation, please take care of this IMMEDIATELY!
My partner admits it is his fault for what happened. He assumed it was done and over simply due to the amount of time that had passed. IT WAS NOT!!!!
He lost 14 days of his freedom and sat with felons that even threatened him. He said it was something he would never want his worst enemy to have to experience.
This is his story, please do not let it be yours!
If PA said only a surrounding state, that is what they mean. So for example, they will extradite you from MD, since it touches PA, however, they will not come to VA to get you. Below info is to the idiot that keep changing the answer and is clueless and obviously stupid when it comes to the law. When a state issues a warrant it decides if they are willing to extradite you and if so how far they are willing to travel. Some states will not extradite outside their city for petty things like bad checks. While others will only extradite inside their state. Then you got some that will extradite from any state that is surrounding them, aka touching them. Then of course they can go wherever they want to in the country.
