Collecting stories is a wonderful way to save the knowledge of your past! So many times, we ignore older people and get the idea that they don't know anything because they don't understand some of the modern ways we do things.

This is turning our backs on a whole generation of ideas, memories, and information that might get lost when these people die.

Find excuses to hang around older people and ask open-ended questions to get them talking about their past. Ask if you can record them telling stories, or write the stories down. Learning about how things were when they were your age is fascinating! You can also see the things you learned about in your history book from a real, human angle because they lived through them.
