How does a fetus is nourish inside the mother womb?

The reproductive system of the female, particularly the placenta which is attached to the uterine wall (the uterus). Maternal blood vessels are "coiled up" next to placental blood vessels and nutrients and oxygen, as well as waste products from the developing fetus, pass the walls of both sets of vessels through a process known as osmosis. Their is probably some active diffusion as well, if I remember correctly, to aid in the transfer of larger molecules. Blood does not typically exchange in large quantities between the mother and baby in a healthy pregnancy, though their may be some incidental exchange, particularly during birth.

The nutrients and oxygen exchanged and given to the infant then travel through the umbilical cord to the developing child.

At what age of gestation does baby start move?

I'm 7 months pregnant and as far as my doctor tells me, constant or almost constant movement is normal. We're up and moving around all day, why shouldn't the baby? You should see it start to decrease as your pregnancy progresses because the baby will be running out of room to move around, but even now (at 30 weeks) my baby is constantly kicking. Each fetus is different; some may move more than others and more activity in the womb may lead to a more active child once he/she is born.

What two substances pass from the mother to the fetus?

Through the umbilical cord. The waste products in the blood stream of the fetus is passed into the blood stream of the mother. Then, she, ahem, gets rid of the waste herself for the both of them. Through the umbilical cord and placenta.

I'm 9 months pregnant and can't feel the baby move?

It should be, if you are concerned talk to your OB/GYN. You probably won't feel your baby kick until around week 16 and 22, even though the baby has been moving since week 7 or 8. You may have already witnessed these movements during an ultrasound. This is often felt as a fluttering feeling or a grasshopper walking across your belly during the first movements.

Do babies breathe their mothers air while still in the womb?

no. babies take their first breath when they are born. the baby does not need to breathe as the mother is breathing so there is oxygen in her blood. the mothers blood exchanges oxygen for the babies carbon dioxide and the baby's tissues get oxygen from its blood.

What does a mother provide to the fetus?

During pregnancy, both nutrients and oxygen pass from the mother's blood to the that of the fetus. by way of the placenta. When the baby is born, then the mother can provide milk (if she breast feeds).

What organ develops first in fetus?

The heart is the first organ to develop in a fetus. Together, blood and the circulatory system, that is powered by the heart, form the first organ system.

What week do you feel your baby move?

First time moms, not usually until 19 wks. Second time mommy's however, it begins as early as 15 wks. That's usually because the first time around you might be confusing your bubbling hungry belly for baby movements, where as the second time you know exactly what it feels like and you can tell if its just hunger bubbles. :)

Could an 11 week fetus be the size of a 13 week fetus?

8 weeks from conception is 10 weeks of pregnancy, is your sonographer confused?

You are 7 months pregnant how many weeks is that?

It all depends on what part of the seventh month you are talking about. You need a gestation wheel to figure it out. But it could be 28 to 32 weeks.

When will you start to show of pregnancy?

First off it is not your stomach per say that grows, it is your uterus. The uterus sits deep in the pelvis and usually fits in there until month 4 when it flips up over your symphysis pubis in need of more room. Every woman is going to be different though with our various body shapes and will be different with each pregnancy as the abdominal muscles change with each.

Does blood of the mother and fetus mix?

Yes and No. During the normal course of a pregnacy, No. The mothers and babies blood does not mix or circulate together. The umbilical cord attaches to the placenta. The placenta is the "container" that keeps the baby "isolated" from the mother. The fetal blood flows through the baby, out the umbilical cord to the placenta and no further.

The placental membrane separates maternal blood from fetal blood.

Oxygen and nutrients in the maternal blood in the intervillous spaces diffuse through the walls of the villi and enter the fetal capillaries. (this unfortunately means that bad things like alcohol and drugs diffuse through the membrane, also.)

Carbon dioxide and waste products diffuse from blood in the fetal capillaries through the walls of the villi to the maternal blood in the intervillous spaces.

Just like the walls of your own digestive system, the food you eat does not come into direct contact with your blood, but the nutients get into your blood and are transferred to all parts of your body. Now for the Yes part of the answer. Certain circumstances can cause them to mix, like miscarriage, abortion, and birth. This is when diseases can be transmitted, or problems with blood RH incompatibility can occur, but that's a whole other WikiSubject.

How do you have healthy hair?

There are so many things you have to do to have great hair. Here are some:

*Instead of using a regular brush, try to get a boar bristle brush. Boar bristles help distribute the nutrients in your hair. Also if a hairbrush hurts or scrapes your head don't use it. Make sure your hairbrush has something on top of the bristles (so it won't hurt your head).

*Try not to dye your hair. It is damaging. If you want to use henna coloring, it comes in all colors and isn't as harmful as regular dyes are.

*Most people would say, don't use heat on your hair. Well I don't. I NEED to use heat on my hair (straightening iron, blowdryer) because it would look horrible without it. But when you do use heat on your hair, make sure to use a protectant, even when blowdrying!!

*Use a wide-tooth comb when brushing wet hair. If you can, don't brush your wet hair. Dry it out somehow. It damages it alot when you brush it wet.

*Put your hair in a loose bun or ponytail when going to bed. Doing that helps not make so much friction on your hair. If you dont want to do that, get a silk pillow case. If you can, do both!!

*If you swim alot, invest in a swimming cap. Chlorine = super harsh on hair. But if you only swim once in a while, i suggest putting a deep conditioner on 30-10 minutes befor you get in the pool. If you go outside alot, try to find a spray or something that has sunscreen in it.

What causes the babies heart to beat?

This is one of the mysteries of the human body. No one knows why the celles that develop into the heart in a fetus begin to vibrate and eventually develop into the regualr heart beat, just as no one knows why other cells when put in close proximity to these cells will begin to display the same activity. It just happens is the best we can say at this time.

160 heart beats is that a girl or more likely a boy?

It is impossible to tell by rate of the heartbeat. Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is speaking old wives tales. The above answerer said that you can tell for sure by an ultrasound. You cannot. Sometimes the baby keeps its legs together or is at a difficult angle and you sonographer can't see, and sometimes it is just impossible to tell.

If you do drugs in the first month of pregnancy will it affect the baby?

Most MD's now agree it is alright to consume alcohol in moderation. Limited cocaine use has not been fully tested but everyday use is very harmful. yes. == Yes - most definately!! The first three months of pregnancy is the most important for development - you should not use/drink at all during a pregnancy - period.

Is it normal to not feel your baby move at 17 weeks?

If you have been going to your regular check ups, then I'm sure everything is fine. Just mention your concern to your doctor at your next visit. If you are are really worried, call them and see if you need to come in earlier. If you haven't been seeing a doctor on a regular basis, you should go see a doctor. 20 weeks is a bit early to be able to feel the baby, but some women do feel it that early.

Can a 23 week old fetus survive?

Yes there have been babies this young surviving, that is why there should not be abortions this late in pregnancy.

However, the babies that do survive are likely to have undeveloped organs so they require intensive care for a long time and they can have problems with their heart & lungs and other organs as they develop later.

Why are you measuring 34 weeks pregnant when you are only 29 weeks?

Your baby may have just experienced a growth spurt or worst case scenario ... the possibility of gestational diabetes. Make sure to have your glucose screening to exempt the possibility. The same thing happened to me and it was just a growth spurt nothing to worry about.. be proactive and discuss any questions or concerns in the moment with your health practitioner!

Can a fetus hear its mother's heart when still in the womb?

Besides the mother's heart, a fetus would hear the mother's lungs expand and empty with each of her breaths, hear her sneeze and cough. A fetus would hear the mother's stomach growling when hungry, hiccups during indigestion, and the mother's normal bowel sounds (tinkles, clicks, rumblings). in addition, a fetus would hear movement of the amniotic fluid, much like being underwater in a swimming pool. And, of course, the fetus hears muffled voices, music, etc.
