JC Higgins lures were named for an old employee at Sears. They started making them in the 40's and quit in the early 60's. I have no facts to back that up, as this is what I've learned from other fellow lure collectors.

How do you fix dried out power bait?

to give a simple anwser you dont, just buy new bait . Since Berkley went to plastic jars you can be assured you'll have a dried up lump resembling a bushing by next fishing season.

I've restored Powerbait successfully but usually end up with a single color. Unless you separate colors you won't be able to restore multi-colored power bait.

1. Separate colors if you want (too much work for me).

2. Grate, shread or process the bait into very small pieces while its dry.

3. Put in a small bowl and add a small amount of hot water.

4. Mix it until it's gooey.

5. spread it on a plate and let it dry to your desired consistency.

6. FIND SMALL GLASS JARS TO STORE IT IN SO IT DOESN'T DRY OUT AGAIN!. I do this with my new stuff too.

Why do people fly fish?

They leap from the water and spread their fins, like sails. They glide above the surface of the water for a hundred feet or so, then fold their fins and dive back into the sea. It gets them away from danger far faster than swimming.

Caribbean cruise ships will often have flying fish sail away from the bow of the ship, at right angles to to the keel.

How thick is fishing line?

The thickness of fishing line depends on two factors; the material it is made of and the breaking strength of the line. For monofilament line, made by pulling a plastic compound through a shaping die, lines can be as thin as .15 millimeters (mm) for two pound test and .48mm for 25 lb. Monofilament line has a stretch factor and can increase up to 25% in length when stretched.

If the lines are made of woven Spectra or a similar material, 6 lb. can be as thin as .1mm. This varies by manufacturer. This type of line has very little stretch, sometimes as low as 1/2%. Because of this, reel drags need to be set to a lower limit to minimize line breakage.

Please note that this is an average diameter, at least for the extrusion-process monofilament lines.

Dacron was also used for fishing line and the diameter varied depending on the number of strands woven into the line. Similar to Spectra-type lines, it has little stretch.

Thediameterof the fishing line is usually identified on the packaging of the fishing line.
