House flies are insects so they have the typical insect features: * body divided into three parts: head , thorax and abdomen * three pairs of legs attached to the thorax * a pair of antennae (feelers) on the head * a pair of compound eyes on the head * wings attached to the thorax The thorax has four broad, black stripes on its upper (dorsal) surface. How do you get rid of a fly infestation in your home if the cause is unknown?
Prevention is the first step. Make sure that all surfaces in your house are clean and that there is no place for larvae to grow. Bleach the kitchen surfaces, sink overflows and areas where pets eat and rest as well as bathroom areas. Vacuum every room every day and throw out the vacuum bag to remove larvae. Garbage should be taken outside daily and should be in a covered container. Outside, clean the porch area around the doors and windows. Remove any garbage or open pet food. Windows should have screens.
Fly tape may help as will leaving a trap to attract the flies. I place a banana peel out and wait. In an hour or so, the flies will have found the peel and I squirt them with a spray bottle with some dish soap in it. This makes their wings stick to their body and glues them in place. Flyswatters will help you eliminate those around the house, but they should become fewer as you put other steps in place.

Can you use horse fly spray on humans to keep the bugs away from us?
Yes flies bother horses. Some are more pesky than others while some can cause a very nasty reaction from the horse. Face flies will cause horse to shake it's head while flies that land on the legs can cause stomping to the point a horse injures itself. Flies that bite will cause the worst of reactions. The flies cause a sharp pinching sensation when they bite and this can cause a horse to bolt, rear, flip over, or attempt to roll.Flies can also transmit diseases from one horse to another so fly prevention strategies are a must.

Maggots do not harm humans, seeing maggots feasting off of a dead corpse, animal or simply rotting flesh is only the nature of the maggots. I.e mosquito larvae. Therefore it can be infected and become fatal to the host. Although, it is the Infection itself that is harmful, not the maggots. And is quite easy to remove the maggots from the host in itself and many doctors have seen action of this.

Probably underneath somewhere. it sounds like you have a leak around the drain hole. Larvae are displaced by the soaps etc going down & trying to get away from it.
