How many 16 by 16 inch tiles are used in a 500 square foot area?

you might be tempted to divide 500 by the area of the tiles, but keep in mind that you cannot tile a floor with fractions of a tile. And though it may be possible to get two usable sections out of one tile, we should not assume that we can. In fact, the number of tiles that you need depends on what the shape of the area is.

Let us assume that is the area is a square in which case the length and width are both √500 feet, approximately 22.36 feet or 268.32 inches. 268.32 divided by 16 is 16.77, so we need 17 tiles in each dimension, or 289 tiles.

But if the area is 20 by 25 feet, or 240 by 300 inches, we get a different answer. In this case we need 15 tiles in one direction and 19 in the other, a total of 285 tiles.

The best way to repair particle board sub-flooring is to cut out the bad spot and replace with new board.

Definition of pre-finished wood flooring?

Prefinished hardwood means that it is already finished (w/ stain and Poly) at the manufacturing plant. All you need to do is install it. This contrasts with unfinished hardwood where you install it and then sand, stain and finish it on site.

Installing prefinished is faster since you don't have the extra steps of sanding, staining and waiting for the stain and poly to dry. This can easily add 4-5 days to your project timeline. And, finishing on site is messier.

However, in my area of the country (NY/Northeast), most homeowners prefer the look of when it is finished on site (the floor is smooth vs. microbeveled edges) and it tends to cost a little bit less for unfinished hardwood.

I'm going to attached a link to that better explains the difference.

Why do people sit on the floor in a gudwara?

Sitting on the floor is an expression of humility before the Guru. Furthermore, it also makes people feel equal and allows each person to choose a place suitable for him/her. While sitting on the floor, one can enjoy Kirtan with greater concentration than while sitting in chairs or on benches. It needs only a little training to be able to sit comfortably on the floor without being tired. A common problem with sitting on the floor is caused by skintight pants, which are not supposed to be worn in a Gurdwara, anyway. If a person has a medical problem and cannot sit without support for his back, there is no objection for his/her sitting by the wall of the Gurdwara. However, in practice it has been found that most of the people want to sit there for the sake of comfort and convenience, which needs to be discouraged. It is, therefore, suggested, that the people having a medical problem may be provided with a speaker in a separate room other than the Sangat hall. They may sit there with some support to overcome their medical handicap. In the Gurdwara we are supposed to be attentive and responsive as a student is supposed to be in his classroom while his teacher is teaching.

Can you use a steam mop on traffic master allure floors?

As you have already figured out, water is not the friend of any type of wood floor. That being said I think the allure floor hasa wax impregnated tongue. Check your spec sheet that came with the floor or google it online. If you go ahead and use the steamer don't let it rest in one spot on the floor. keep it moving and lift it off when you are done.

Can you put marble over an old ceramic tile floor?

No, I would try to avoid that at all costs. If you do it, it will crack. It's best to remove the existing tile and smooth out subfloor before installing any tile, and most especially for installing marble which is very fragile.

Do you need to lay down felt paper or any kind of under lay when installing new hard wood over old hardwood?

This is a point is debated among those who install flooring. Bruce Hardwood Flooring, the leading hardwood seller in America states felt paper or red rosin in unnecessary for installation of a nail or staple down floor.

There are those who believe it acts as a vapor barrier. The issue with that thought is, if you need a vapor barrier over your wood subfloor, you shouldn't be installing wood anyway.

Some believe it will reduce the squeaks in the floor. This would be a hard thing to say for sure. If this is a concern, you may want to.

One thing that red rosin does do for sure is make flooring easier to install. You can more easily slide boards together and across the floor. The paper reduces the friction against the subfloor.

Is Oak engineered flooring durable?

Oak is generally thought of as a durable flooring. It is the most common wood floor in North America.

The Janka Hardness Scale puts white oak at 1360 and red oak at 1290. In comparison, hard maple is a little higher at 1450 and southern yellow pine at 870.

The construction of the floor will have a great deal to do with how this floor will wear. The under part of the floor ideally should be made of plywood and not HDF or MDF. Assuming this, oak engineered flooring is a durable choice for most homes.
