Should you install a bathroom vanity on top of tile or on top of backerboard?
On top of the tile. You may want or need to change it at some point and a new one may not fill the space on the tile.

Does a vacuum work on tiled floors?
Yes a vacuum works very well on tile floors, just set it on the floor setting.
I always vacuum my tile floors before I wash or mop them.
The vacuum picks up the loose dirt and and hair from the floor, and it makes it much
easier to mop and clean.
What will get glue off of laminate flooring?
Goof Off will get most glues off laminate flooring without harming most laminates. -NOTE I said 'most' -cheaper and thinner laminates appear every day and I don't know the effects on many of the lesser quality laminates. Test a small piece first.
How many 20x20 ceramic tiles do you need for a 15'x20' room?
First we need to calculate the square footage of the room.
15*20 = 300 square feet
Now we need to know how many square feet each tile covers.
20" = 1.667~ square feet
1.6672 = 2.78 square feet.
Now we divide the area of the tiles into the area of the room.
300/2.78 = 108 tiles.
This gives the exact number of tiles you need mathematically. Realistically you need to account for cutting and breaking. It's safe to round that up to 120 tiles.

How do you remove underlay glue from a wooden floor?

What product can you seal your kitchen tile grout with that will harden and last long time?
I had very dirty tile grout in my kitchen and bathrooms from one of those swiffer mops. After a few months the grout lines became dirty and even when I used bleach in the grout lines they would not get clean.... After a while I realized that my grout was not sealed when the ceramic tiles were laid down (ceramic tiles usually come sealed)....I went to an orange colored builder supply store and first got a professional grade heavy duty acidic grout cleaner. I followed the directions and then once it was dry and cleaned I used a high traffic grout sealer (was in a tall yellow container with blue writing...don't remember the name) and a roller to roll the grout lines...once it dried my grout lines were shiny and white!
It doesn't matter what color the store is you buy a sealer from! Read the labels on any grout sealer!!! If it states that a second application can be made at a later date; that raises the question "What happened to the first?". Also, look for any cautionary statement "Do not allow product to contact glass or metal"! In either case these products will not give longevity as a sealer.
A cementitous grout left untreated will absorb waterborne contaminates into the capillary pore of the grout that has not been waterproofed! Dirty mop water is a sure way to discolor a grout! I use a product direct from the manufacturer that waterproofs in one application and increases compressive strength of any Portland Cement based grout material. Once the grout has been waterproofed, an added benefit is; it does not allow formation of efflorescence crystals on a surface. Best to place this product the day after grouting to protect from construction residue. Low VOC allows application in an occupied interior space and your grout problems are over!

Can you use wall tile adhesive on floor tiles?
Yes
ANS 2 - I would only do that as a repair or an emergency. Floor tiles generally need a heavier and denser glue as they are being walked on - wall tile has no such stresses. ( -I have done lots of both types )
How many 16X16 square inch tiles are needed for 500 square feet?
500 sq ft = 500*12*12 = 500*144 = 72000 sq inches
You would need 72000/256 tiles of 16*16 sq inch
ie 281.25 tiles.
The above answer is good only for mathematical purposes. In real life, you would need to take account of the shape of the area and also make an allowance for wastage.
A foot is 12 inches, which means 18 inches is equal to 18/12 = 1.5 feet. However, 2(1.5) = 3 (which is the base of all integer answers to this), and 16/3 is irreducible, so we may not tile the whole floor with 18 by 18 inch tiles (only a 15' by 15' area). Note that it would be easier if the tiles were not squares, since flipping the tiles would make it more functional.
According to my calculation:
1feet = 12 inches
so 16' x 16' = 192" x 192" inch2 --> (16'x16')/(18"x18") = 113.78. Which means you need approximately 114 tiles to fill the room. This is only possible if you are able to cut the tiles, which is not a parameter in the problem.
I assume 18 x 18 is in inches. That's 1.5 x 1.5 feet, or 2.25 square feet, for each tile. Just divide the total area by the area of each tile.
Do you put down flooring before or after you install a commode?
Flooring first. The flange will set on top.
How to get rid of echo in house that has mostly hardwood floors and large great room?
IT would be very difficult, large drapes would help some, also maybe some area rugs, Oriental rugs, things like that, anything that will absorb sound. you may be able to find some acoustic absorbers, but they probably interfere with your décor.
How many square feet does 196 13x13 inch tiles equal?
the dimensions of one tile is 13x13 inches or 1.083x1.083 feet. Therefore area of one tile is 1.1736 square feet and that of 196 tiles is 196x1.1736=230.027

A square tile is 23cm what is the area?
Assuming the 23cm refers to the length of its side, the area is 23*23 = 529 cm2
How do you figure how much hard wood flooring?
If you do it right, there is very little waste with hardwood flooring. When laying the floor you will start at one end and install long rows across the room. The cut off at the end, when you reach a wall can be used as the first piece for the next row. So, when you reach the end of a row, don't look for a piece that is almost the same length you need and cut off the end. Use a piece that is twice as long and cut it in half using the cut-off to start your next row.
Since there is little waste, you can multiply the area's length times width and you will be pretty darn close. If it's not a square or rectangle shaped room, break the area up into measurable squares and add them together to give your suppliers a figure.
I would only add an extra couple boxes depending on the size of the job. Not to account for waste, but for error in measuring and split pieces.
