When was the last Ford capri sold?
1987 was the last production year. Hope that helps.
Totally depends on which 'Capri' we are talking about
Australian Ford/Mercury Capri 1989 - 1994
Styled by italians, built by Australians with Japanese Mechanicals. The Ford/Mercury Capri came about because Ford Australia (APAO) had an interst in building & marketing an export project vehicle. The initial approval and funding was given in 1984, to develop a small front wheel drive, two seat convertible. All Capri's were assembled in Melbourne Australia & marketed in Australia and the United States.
The Production Capri was based on the successful 1983 Ford of Europe, Fiesta-based Ghia designed 2 seat convertible called the Barchetta (little boat). The Capri exterior was styles by Ford's "Ghia" design studio. The engineering, the interior & folding roof were done by "Ital design" an Italian engineering/design firm. The Mechanicals (engine, transaxle, brakes, suspension & steering) were manufactured & supplied by "Mazda Motors", a Ford Asian Partner.
There were two models, the base version and the turbo charged XR2. Both has DOHC 1.6 Litre engines. The base version was rated at an even 100hp AT 5750 rRPM, and 95ft.lb of torque at 5500 RPM, while the XR2 turbo engine was rated at 132hp at 6000rpm and 136ft/lb of torque at 3000rpm. A five speed manual transmission was standard. A four speed automatic was available only on the base (non turbo) version.
The "Ford Capri" was initially offered to Australia in 1989. In late 1990 it was marketed & sold in the US as a "Mercury Capri". Ford hoped a Sporty convertible would encourage younger/female customers into Mercury dealerships, where the customer base was primarily older/males.
The Capri was not an immediate sales sucess. Ford targeted first year sales of 30,000 but only 21,000 were actually sold & production decreased each of the subsequent years. Despite generally favorable reports from the automotive press, the Capri suffered from initial build quality problems, vehicle recalls, poor marketing support & a negative article in the April 1991 issues of Consumer Reports.
Production ceased when the Capri failed to meets its marketing goals & Ford believed that future demand for two seart convertibles in general, was on the decline.
Manufacturing continued until the 1994 model year, with total world wide production reaching 66,279. The final year of production 1994 Ford of Australia assembled less than 4,000 Capris & of that number only 366 were XR2's.

How do you raise the top on a 1991 Mercury Capri convertible?
There is a release leaver on the drivers side of car by the back seat of the car. It is just inside the door. You should have two (2) release leavers the top is to fold the front set forward and the other is to open the back lid over the top. If it is a little stiff you may need to Pull up on it while you pull the release leaver(mine is).
AnswerThere's a release lever for the rear deck lid behind the drivers seat near the door opening. The lever is locked and needs a key, or in my case no-key, the lock removed, two Phillips screws. Once the deck lid is un-locked, open the lid and hold it upright and grab the center of the rag top and lift. Note: Both doors must be opened, or the windows get in the way. Two grab catches on the front of the top must be released by pressing in on the red releases. Need more info email me at jlossie@prodigy.net.How do you remove ford capri door?
Annoyingly, this requires some dashboard dismantling. Remove the fasia, dials, lower dash and kick pannel. The bolts to the door hinges are now visible, though still difficult to get to. If it's the paasenger side, then just the glove box and kick pannel I guess.
Where is fuse box in 1991 Mercury Capri?
The fuse box is located under the dash on the drivers side of the car. There is also a fuse box under the hood by the drivers side strut tower.
What is a hydraulic power pack?
Hydraulic Power Units are the main driving components of hydraulic systems. Consistingly mainly of a motor, a reservoir and a hydraulic pump, these units can generate a tremendous amount of power to drive most any kind of hydraulic ram. Hydraulic Power Units are based on Pascal's law of physics, drawing their power from ratios of area and pressure.
Hydraulic Power Units are used in a wide range of applications, including:
Hyraulic Power Units can generally be used in any application that requires heavy and systematic lifting or other requirements for the repeated use of powerful and directional force.
Consider all of the ways that hydraulic power units are used in things you see every day. Drive past any construction site and you're likely to see some kind of heavy construction machine, be it a bull dozer, an excavator or even a skidsteer. All of these machines rely on hydraulic power units to do their work. Fisherman rely on hydraulic power units to lift their nets and pots. Your auto mechanic uses a hydraulic power unit to lift your car high enough to walk around beneath it and make repairs. The Jaws of Life, a tool that has saved many lives in auto accidents, relies on a hydraulic power unit for its incredible cutting power. Farmers use hydraulic-driven machinery to tend and harvest their crops. The garbage truck that picks up your trash uses a hydraulic power unit to compact the garbage it collects. Your favorite amusement park ride probably utilizes hydraulics to lift you high and fast into the air and give you a soft, safe landing. Remember when you stepped on the brakes to avoid that last small animal that ran out into the road? Modern auto braking systems rely on the power of hydraulics.
It's easy to overlook the widespread and impressive utility of hydraulic power units, but listing all of their applications it becomes clear that we rely on them for so much of what makes our society run smoothly and efficiently.
My ford capris engine will start run for 5 seconds then it dies?
You should probably get that checked by a mechanic.
How do you take down the convertible top on a 1991 Mercury Capri?
To take your top down open both doors then push forward on the red bottons on the top release handles located at the top of hte roof by the visors and pull down on the levers. Releve the tension on the back of the roof and gentle pull this back from the car. Raise these up and then open the compartment for the roof. There is a release by the drivers door. You may need the ignition key to unlock it. Lift the compartment lid. Lower the bottom of the roof into the compartment do not drop the top in. Lower it in carefully and watch to see if it folds properly you may need to push the top bar back into position to get it to go in flush to the top. Close your top and enjoy.

What causes a pungent rotten egg smell coming from the tailpipe of a 1977 Ford Capri II 2.8 V-6?
Emissions system not working properly, or a defective catalytic converter. A bad catilitic converter will cause that rotten egg smell THE Smell is from the Engine running 2 RICH - TO much fuel.U need 2 check 2 C if there are any codes like (O2 Sensor) EVEN a Vacume leak will cause a RICH condition & if the leak is bad enough the engine will idle rough. Plugged or damaged pcv valve; Damaged or faulty oxygen sensor or circuit; Clogged, damaged, defective or faulty catalytic converter. From my past experiences, owners of older cars tend to use higher octane in hopes of a better running engine. Higher octane than what the factory recommends can, also, cause a pungent rotten egg smell.
