How many ford capris are left?

That's very difficult to say, but I'll have an educated guess. Right, in an average week you could expect to find about 40 capri's for sale in the UK. So, times by 52 gives us the number sold in an entire year (2,080). The average used car is sold approximately every 5.5 years, so I would estimate there to be a total of 11,440 left in the UK.

The capri sold in millions in it's 19 year production span, so this is a relatively low number.

How do you adjust clutch on a 1992 ford capri?

Pre 1997/9 models of Ford Vehicles were self-adjusting via the clutch-foot-pedal. The pedal engages a ratchet system called the QUADRANT & PAWL and is part of the pedal. The mechanism is very similar on older Ford models of: Escort, Fiesta, Sierra, Granada, Transit & others. Newer vehicles may have a Hydraulic Clutch from 1997/9 onwards, and these work differently from the cable & pully mechanism. Clutch-fluid can be bled to improve the ability to operate the clutch, however this is not necessarily a method of adjusting the clutch.

If your reading this article because you have a broken clutch-pedal then please read on.

If when pressing the foot-pedal it feels like cable is broken, or pedal is loose, ...This is symptomatic of failure of the QUADRANT & PAWL 'ratchet' mechanism due to wear of teeth on the ratchet.

In some cases the pedal fails to pull the clutch out far enough to change gear, and may make a 'springing noise'. This is due to slippage on some worn ratchet-teeth, but the mechanism has not reached full failure. There are 2 ways to remedy the fault.

1. Change the Quadrant & Pawl, using only genuine Ford parts. #Beware of inferior mouldings that are not up to standard e.g. too soft, and do not trust 'pattern-parts' on eBay etc.

2. SHORTEN THE CABLE.

  • Disconnect SPRING ON THE FOOT-PEDAL to release ratchet mechanism.
  • Clamp cable slack (engine end).

How do you put the top down on a 1991 Mercury Capri convertible?

Unhook the latches holding down your top Slightly lift back the top from where it was latched down While it is lifted slightly pull the back part up and out of where it is hooked to the back Fold the back flap with the window up Use your key to unlock the top (located behind the drivers door) Pull up the handle under where you put the key in Lift the hinged lid behind your back seats Lower the back flap with the window While you are pushing the entire top back and down you have to take hold of the number 2 metal bar(located right above your head when you are sitting) and pull it forward so the top will go all the way down and fit properly. Once the top is all the way in close the plastic cover. If the top doesn't fit in all the way than you did not pull the 2nd bar forward. Do not force the plastic top to go down all the way just put the top back in place and try again. It takes a couple of times to get good at it but don't worry the 1st time is the hardest.

89 Ford Capri sa turbo alternator replacement?

You can replace the regulator without removing alternator. Just remover 2 rubber hoses in way. (from underneath car)

To remove whole alternator:

From underneath:

remove oil filter, rubber hose into sump, main battery lead and indicator cable, lower pivot and mount. (hole through axle support allows bolt removal)

From above:

remove master cylinder,

valve on end of intake manifold,

2 brackets supporting power steering lines,

2 parts top bracket supporting alternator crescent,

top alternator adjusting bolt.

Push alternator to one side, then

disconnect power steering pipe at join below alternator. This allows you to push power steering pipe to one side.

You can now wriggle alternator with pulley uppermost and with a little brute force and a lot of wriggling, remove upwards. It helps to tie a piece of wire round it to get a good pull. It will tend to catch on the power brake booster bolts but with a bit of leverage and patience it will come out.

Where is the transmission dip stick on a 1991 Capri?

If it is a manual, the speedo cable is how you check the oil level. Remove the 10mm headed bolt holding the speedo cable in, twist and remove the cable and the oil level should be half way up the gear. If it is an auto, it will be a black dipstick which is easy to find, just look harder.
