What year did freemasonry start?

There are no records to indicate in what year Freemasonry began, and it depends somewhat on how you define Freemasonry. We know that he stone masons who built the cathedrals and castles in the middle ages formed a sort of trade union in some locations in Britain and Europe. This activity can be traced back as far as 926 when Prince Edwin, son of King Athelstan, presided over a meeting of Masons at York, England.

The most widely accepted theory is that the modern fraternal organization of Freemasons evolved out of that group of stone masons. There is evidence that by the mid 1600's there were some independent lodges (groups) of "Free and Accepted Masons" who were not working stone masons.

The current fraternal institution of regular Freemasonry can be said to have started when the first Grand Lodge was formed in London, England, on St John's day, June 24 , 1717 and the fraternity has continued on uninterrupted to today.

What is the G in Masonic second degree?

The first degree is the degree of Entered Apprentice. The name of the degree is a Scottish term, which was applied to an apprentice stonemason who had been formally initiated and entered on the record books of the lodge. In England, there was no such term during the operative period, and all apprentices were called, simply, "apprentices."

Any description of a handshake given on this or any public site is hardly secret. Therefore your question cannot be answered. In any case, if you really wanted to be a Mason, you would become one, and then you would know. It does not make sense to demand the key to a door you have no intention of entering.

Is a paster kakobe a freemason?

Unless the person specifically states that he is a member of the Freemasons, it is hard to know for sure. The bible is very clear concerning matters like this, I personally know him very well but JESUS knew this early that's why he said "you will know them well by their deeds and their fruits" and sometimes when they called Jesus demon chief[Beelzebub], He asked them could devil destroy his own kingdom? so, if I am, why I do this? Means He is not so. When we come to man of God Kakobe he has been a great disaster to Satan kingdom. That simply shows in which part he is saving.

What is the masonic hand shake?

A freemason handshake is a means of identifying each other as freemasons. The different handshakes will identify which degree a mason has achieved within the organisation. A freemason can not divulge the handshake to a non-mason as this would break an oath made at initiation. Knowing the hanshake alone is not enough as on reciept of such a handshake a set conversation will follow.

How old do you have to be to be a free mason?

This answer depends entirely upon the jurisdiction in which one intends to enter Freemasonry. The age requirement typically is 18, 19 or 21 years of age. The best way to be certain is to check with the Grand Lodge that holds such jurisdiction.

Are there woman masons?

No Freemasons are only for men; women do have their own "mason" group.

Correction:

There are Freemason organizations that include women, these lodges are referred to as Co-Masonic lodges. The biggest organization of Co-Masonry is Le Droit Humain.

They are not however, "recognized" by most "mainstream" Grand Lodges.

There are also all-female Masonic Lodges in Britain, but members of these cannot visit all-male lodgesand these lodges cannot be visited by male masons.

What is a Masonic Lodge?

Most people naturally assume that a masonic lodge is a meeting place for Freemasons. However, the masonic lodge actually refers to the Masons themselves, not just their meeting hall, as a lodge can be opened anywhere enough Masons have assembled.

--

The term is defined several ways by Masonic authors, but it is currently used to refer to three general things:

- A specific group of Freemasons that regularly meet together under a Warrant or Charter; e.g. St John's Lodge No. 1, The Grand Lodge of England, or the Pennsylvania Lodge of Research.

- An official meeting of Freemasons for a specific purpose; e.g. a Lodge of Master Masons, a Lodge of Entered Apprentice Masons, a Lodge of Sorrow, or a Table Lodge.

- It can also refer to the place where Freemasons hold their meetings, although that specific place would properly be called the Lodge Room. The building is more typically referred to as a Masonic Hall, or Masonic Temple, but some will call it, informally, the Masonic Lodge. Originally, the term lodge did refer to the building, in the form of a small hut or shelter, where stone masons who were engaged in building a large structure would gather.

What does the masonic freemason symbol look like?

Although this question is very general, it can be presumed that the question is referring to the most publicly-viewed symbol of Freemasonry: the Square and Compasses.

These two symbols have deep symbolic meaning for Freemasons, but the beginning of understanding them is to compare them with tools used by operative masons.

The Square is so named because it is operatively used to test objects for being "square", that is, a perfect 90-degrees in angle. A Square can also be used to create other angles by employing trigonometric measures to mark out a desired angle. To a Freemason, one of the primary meanings of the Square represents virtue. A common colloquialism with Masonic origin in American English is "square deal" which means an equitable exchange of monies, services or goods, meaning that both parties have acted with virtue.

The Compasses (note, this is a plural word - a "compass" is an instrument used to determine magnetic north) are operatively used to scribe circles. These are necessary to create perfectly round objects. To a Freemason, one of the primary meanings of the Compasses is to keep one's passions within limitations, so as not to be controlled by them.

Frequently one might see the letter "G" enclosed within the Square and Compasses. One of the primary Freemasonic meanings of this letter is that it represents "Geometry" or "God".

The Count of St Germain (1710-1784) was an odd character, which unfortunately due to his similarity of name to the Bishop of Paris in the 500's, St Germain, some people mistakenly think is related to Catholicism. The Count was considered by many a charlatan and adventurer, using metaphysics as a part of his chicanery. He had made claims of immortality, and had has some association with the Theosophists and Freemasonry.

Can you wear a 2 ball cane emblem?

Yes, if you are a Master Mason.

Personally, I believe if you do, you must NOT wear any other commonly recognizable symbols, emblems, rings, or pins at the same time. There is nothing official that says this, but if you are wearing a symbol like this, it is (or should be) because you wiant only to be recognized by other Masons. Wearing well-known and uncommon symbols together will eventually reduce the effectiveness of the unknown. Even though it's not a secret per se, it let's people outside the fraternity become aware of our little-known means of quiet recognition. Although there are other symbols, we don't really want to "ruin" this by allowing it to become widely known to nonmembers. In that regard, I would respectfully suggest that you address your questions like this to other members of your group instead of posting on a public website. Good luck in your travels.
