Why do we try to conceal these rituals? Mostly because of the sense of history and belonging that they give us. We are members of a fraternity that has its roots in the middle ages (some say long before then) and the archaic English and meter of the rituals resonate with many of us; especially those of us brought up on the King James Version and Shakespeare. The language has power.

Is some of this old fashioned and even silly by today's standard? Perhaps, it is.

I am not aware of any Tanzanian schools which are sponsored by or supported by Masonic Lodges. I would consider such a thing unlikely.

First of all, Freemasonry is a global organization, so your question is implicitly limited to American Freemasonry. There are no statistics available upon which to base an answer to that question. The Masonic fraternities themselves are non-political as a rule. The discussion of politics and religion are forbidden within a Masonic temple. The specific political or religious persuasions of any member is their own private business. Within any Masonic lodge however, you are sure to find a diverse group of individuals of many different political parties, ethnic backgrounds, religions, etc. I personally know of Freemasons who are Rebuplican, Democrat, Libertarian, Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Jewish, Buddhist, Wiccan, of European descent, African, South American, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, etc. etc. It would definitely be a mistake to assume that there is Republican majority in American Freemasonry.

As a mason all brothers took a oath to help out all worthy brothers in destress. Why is it as a brother for the past 20 years in good standing i cant get any help financally? To me this oblagation was in vain and being a freemason was also invain.

Freemasonry existed in a number of cities in Pakistan, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta and Tarbela amongst others. It was finally proscribed in Pakistan in 1983 by Zia-ul-Haq.
