I'm sure any of the myths out there regarding killing fireants will work; temporarily. But fireants are highly evolved and intelligent. You must kill them on contact and you must kill the queen. Using baits will not work because once the ants mark a food source as poison, the entire colony is notified and everyone begins removing the food from the colony. There is a product I've used that works better than anything. Texas A&M University tested the product as well with great success. The product is called Exxant. It's not a poison and is all natural. Which is why I like it. I normally have to treat twice but this product kills the queen and all the ants. I know it's killing them because they all come out of the mound and die within minutes. use bug spray If they are in your cupboards then they came in with some food you bought in the grocery store. I live in British Columbia, Canada and during the summer months they are pesky little things. You have to take everything out of your cupboards (they love crackers, chili pepper .. powdered, and any dry cereals as well as tea bags. If in doubt throw it out. Once all the food is well away from the cuboards (open a window and door) then spray and leave for an hour or two. You'll have to wash well with hot soapy water. If you can't afford to throw everything out, then take a big piece of wax paper and empty each thing out onto it and if all is well and you don't see them then you can rebox it. Dog biscuits are another thing they love!

Two species known for producing rings are Tricholoma Gambosum

(St. Georges Mushroom - also known as Calocybe Gambosum or Lyophyllum georgii)

and Marasmius Oreades (Fairy Ring Champignon).

Myths ascribe the rings to fairies, witches, the devil dragons etc. but:

"Fairy rings" (typically in three concentric rings) are caused by mycelium

of fungi growing from a central starting point. As the mycelium grows,

it produces changes in the organic matter of the soil. Ammonia is

liberated and produces nitrates or ammoniacal salts, manuring

the vegetation, & stimulating its growth.

As the mycelium increases, it fills the air spaces in the soil so that rain-

water has difficulty in percolating, at a time when the increased vegetation

is making greater demands on the available water. This causes localised

drought and the plants die, leaving a bare circle. The part behind dies

off and water can now panetrate the soil and the dead fungus becomes food

for the plants which invade the bare area and so on. Obviously the ring

widens year on year.

The plant usually referred to as a primrose is a simple, flat, pale yellow bloom with a darker marking around the center.
