What are the advantages and disadvantages of getting a GED?

As far as I know there are no disadvantages related to getting a GED. Unless you are comparing a GED with graduation from High School, and even then there is little difference. Obtaining a GED allows one to apply for jobs and education programs that require a high school education. Even the military wants someone with a high school diploma or equivalency. There are some High School students that will take the GED in order to start college earlier. I'm a high school teacher and would recommend that you stay in school and get a diploma if at all possible. Many students think that it's easy to get a GED, but the fact is, you still have to have knowledge of high school level math, English, science, and social studies. Having said that, high school is not for everyone. I have students whom I recommend getting a GED because they are in 9th or 10th grade and have only a few credits or are overage and it's not possible to graduate before they turn 21. Most employers don't look as highly upon a GED as they do a diploma, but it depends on what kind of job it is. Most technical colleges will accept a GED for entrance, but four-year colleges will not. You have to have a diploma nowadays to get into the military. Another option is adult education. You can go at night and get your diploma at your own pace. There are some programs that have classes during the day, but you still have put in the required amount of hours (usually 60 per credit)and some require that you already have a certain amount of credits and have already passed the state exit exam. The requirements vary from program to program. Role of society in child education?

The role of society towards child education depends on the society. In usa society, the government plays a vital role in providing basic and compulsory education for all children free for at least 13 years old. Society is supposed to invest in the education of our children to stimulate a successful economy and society in the future, instead of taxing unborn generations and reducing their potential for freedom of choice when they become adult citizens.

What is different between education in the past and education in the now?

A couple of differences are:

increased knowledge

increasing complexity and quality of materials

There are more. For example, the issues involved with student behavior are totally different now than they were in the past. 50 years ago, the most common behavior problems were talking and chewing gum in class. Students respected their teachers and obeyed them and the rules. If they didn't respect the teacher, they at least showed them respect. There was an occasional physical fight, but nothing that was not handled quickly and effectively. Standing in corners, missing recess and spanking were acceptable punishments. Now, behavioral issues can involve almost anything from showing teachers disrespect to the most dreaded of all, school shootings.

Schools were smaller back then, so parents usually knew the teachers. Curriculum was focused on academic subjects like reading, writing, arithmetic, science, etc. Formal sex education was nonexistent in schools. Prayer was allowed without questioning that it was "unconstitutional." In fact, when schools were first organized, the McGuffy Readers that were used contained scriptures from the Bible. "Zero Tolerance" was unheard of in the past.

The school year was shorter back then. The year started after Labor Day and ended the last of May. There were no choices for lunch. We ate the one meal that was prepared or just did not eat. There were no vending machines in schools.

There are no doubt more differences, but that is a few of them.

By usen paper and books...Uh no.

Utilizing the internet and your college/high school or public library look up how to write a student handbook. Their are plenty of great guides on how to organize the document, writing it professionally and getting across some major key points without pointing the finger at any one persons bad behavior.

I'm writing a paper on writing a student handbook for a technical writing course for my California State University Fresno bachelors level writing.

how canI get my GED?

If you fail your GED test can you retake it?

What if I don't pass all the tests the first time? You can take one or more of the tests again. However, note that many jurisdictions have special requirements for candidates who don't pass the GED Tests the first time. You may be required to wait several months or show proof of attending a preparation course before you're permitted to re-test. You may also have to pay an additional fee. For the specific regulations in your area, check with your state, province, or territory's contact person for GED testing.

If you fail your g.e.d test, usually you have to wait a period of time, I believe it is three months. Pay again and you can, I recommend if you failed, to take a g.e.d course at your local college to prepare you and double check with your local college on the time between re-taking the test. What is the best app for GED practice?

Upon research of finding the best college test-prep apps to review for my College and Career Prep class, I have found that the College Board itself is the best option. Sometimes the testing process is simplified if you know your teacher. These people at the College Board are the true hosts of tests such as the SAT and ACT, so they know what they're talking about when they try to help incoming test takers. The app features a well rounded simulation process of the SAT test through its' one-a-day questions. A person practicing may select a math, reading, writing, or language question per day, yet all subjects are eventually covered over the course of the process. Hints may be presented as well as answer explanations and study suggestions through the apps' Khan Academy partnership. This is a great resource for self-prepping.
