there is a diagram for upper and lower ball joints for the front end.

top of the dash remove speaker plates Phillips screws remove top vent cover .....Along the top of dash you now see 7 screws remove them remove plastic cover under sterring colmn and remove 2 15mm bolts from colmn rest colmn on seat bottom left and right corners have a 10 mm bolt silver in colour remove them and your dash is free............

pull the fuse

I had this very problem in my '97 Jimmy 4.3L V-6. The oil sending unit was cracked. It seems they'll crack or break and although not much oil escapes , the oil pressure remains low. On my truck the oil sending unit screws into the back of the distributor in a VERY tight space , but with a ratchet and a deep-well socket is reachable if you take the distributor cap off first. The part only costs around 20 bucks. If you can do it yourself or know a shade tree mechanic that will do it for you , it shouldn't cost you too much to have it replaced. Good luck!

Depending on year, it came with 11 or 2 or 4 or 8 or 0. Repairs to front end and/or driveshafts may have added additional grease fittings.

The spark plugs for a 1996 GMC Jimmy should have a gap of .060 inches or .040 inches, depending on the actual spark plug. Some plugs are factory set and you do not need to set the gap.

My 94 jimmy's filter is right beside air filter on driver's side fender well don't know if that's normal or not but i would check there

Get a new bumper obviously, then there are either four or eight bolts (8 if you have a hitch) on either end of the bumper underneath. Remove the nuts from the bolts and both bolts will come out as one piece. Make sure you disconnect the light for your license plate before taking off the bumper. Then just lift and it will come off.

On my 98 blazer a little light that looks like a gas pump would illuminate when low, a Jimmy should be the same.

On a 1997 gmc jimmy, the check engine light comes on if you're very low on fuel.

I haven't seen one on a '98 Jimmy, but I have a '96 Jimmy and they are probably the same. It is circular, about 3 to 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter and about 1 and 1/2 inches thick. In order to get to it, you have to remove the battery and then remove the battery tray. You will find the actuator hiding underneath the battery tray. Best of luck, Paul H.

Check ball joints for play

it is on the fire wall about half way across it. it is next to the powerr block

open the rear hatch you have two screws in the side holding the lens in place

The door lock relays on the 2003 Yukon are located in the fuse panel. That fuse panel is located on the outside of the lower part of the dash. It can be found by opening the drivers door wide. You'll see an access panel which is easily removed revealing the fuses.

on most 83s the front axle is locked by vacume. There is a vacume canister on the right hand fender well under the hood check the vacume hoses to the transfer case

The Freon recharge port can be found on the top of the air conditioner compressor. There will be two ports. The recharge port will be labeled as the low pressure port.

If it is not under the hood then try your local auto store they will have it.If not try the dealer.

There are two straps holding the tank on. These must be removed. The rubber that holds the filler tube on must also be removed. Be careful to not break the wires that feed the pump or the vent lines.

Basic maintenance considerations:

Transmission fluid needs to be changed yearly (or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first)

Oil needs to be changed every 3 months (or every 3,000 miles, whichever comes first) (also the filter needs to be replaced -- some people only change the oil which only temporarily helps as the filter quickly makes it dirty again)

Brake fluid should be checked every 6 months and topped off as needed.

Tire rotations should be every 6 months (or sooner if recommended by the tire manufacturer). Alignment correction as needed (if you bump tires on curbs or other obstacles, otherwise about once a year)

Bumper to bumper inspections should be done before all long trips or once a year.

Tune ups should be done once a year (sparkplugs, belt adjustments, etc)

Air filter should be checked every time the oil is changed and replaced as needed (at least once a year, sooner with alot of mileage or a dirty engine).

The radiator should be drained and filled yearly, or twice a year if you are correcting for extreme seasonal variations from hot to cold or cold to hot months (more often with high mileage)

That's all just a summary of basic inspection and maintanence, mileage recommendations may vary and those listed here are based on an average of most vehicles needs (consult your manual)

Since replacing the oil temporarily solved the problem, it sounds like something is making the oil dirty faster than normal. All the usual suspects that can cause oil to dirty quickly should be checked.

More specific I would say get your fuel system checked.

The fuel system may be dirty or partially clogged. Contaminants in the fuel line may cause fuel to misfire or not ignite properly leading to the car jerking as it loses and regains power between piston fires.

If the issue is minor than simply using a fuel line cleaner or higher grade octane may improve the problem. It could also be a misfiring spark plug (when was your last tune up or engine check?) A more major problem may require the fuel pump or fuel injector be replaced.
