Where is the fuse box on savana van?

It's under the driver's seat.

In the 1997 GMC Savana there are 2 fuse boxes. One is next to where your left foot would be if you were driving, and the other is in the engine compartment in the front on the drivers side. How do you remove the engine housing on a 2003 GMC Savana?

Remove everything from the lower console comparment. Remove four bolts from the inside of the lower, large compartment - all of them are at the back, facing the front of the vehicle. Carefully pull the bottom compartment away from the large engine cover. Remove the small, flat heat duct that sits on top of the large cover, remember orientation, two upright studs keep it in place during assembly.

Remove two bolts under the passenger side dash, using the same size socket as the previous cover removal. Carefully pull the passenger lower dash to un-fasten it, removing it completely from the dash.

Unhitch four total clips on the engine cover, two on the floor and two up against the firewall. Carefully rock the engine cover, pulling it backward. At this point, it seems that removal of the passenger seat would be required to completely remove the engine cover from inside the van -- otherwise, if you are careful, you can maneuver the engine cover different ways depending on which parts of the engine you must work on. If you must drive with the engine cover out of position or removed, wear suitable hearing protection as the engine is extremely loud! Also, if driving with the cover out of place or removed, be careful of possible objects that may be thrown up from the road (pebbles, sand, gravel, stones, loose parts, etc.

How do you change the upper control arm bushings on a 1994 gmc siera 2500 4x4?

Remove control arm from vehicle.

If ball joint is pressed, use ball joint press (or hammer) to remove ball joint. If it is held in by rivits, destroy rivits and remove ball joint.

Bushings may be removed and installed with ball joint press; use your head (ie: you can use a socket if there is not a ball joint press adapter that fits control arm bushing, etc.).

Install new bushing STRAIGHT!

Install all other parts in reverse order of removal.

You should get an alignment after finished.

Why do GMC truck fuel pumps fail so often?

Had the same problem on my 2000 GMC Sonoma. After getting it replaced for the third time (all three under warranty) the mechanic recommended not allowing the fuel gauge to read less than a quarter tank remaining. He said the fuel acts as a coolant for the fuel pump (go figure, using a volatile liquid as a coolant). In the nine plus years of following his advice, I haven't replaced the fuel pump.
