Club Car golf cart's for 2009 just switched back to the (6) 8V batt system for their new Precedent models. Too many voltage problems with the (4) - 12V's, that's why Club Car went back to the (6) 8V's.

In the 1950's, the golf course was split into what amounted to two halves by the extension of routes 80 and 95 to the George Washington Bridge. The highways straddle what is essentially the border between the two towns the golf course's property encompassed---Englewood and Leonia.

When this happened, the golf course lost some of its luster. It became confusing traveling underneath the higways from one side to the other, as well as noisy. It was also known as somewhat of a "home course" for some local mob members, who would actually drive onto the course in their Cadillacs and Lincolns.

By the 1970's, the course was not very well kept. It became a hangout for locals to drink and vandalize at night (though still very fun to sleigh-ride on in the winter, as it was built on the side of a hill). Then a mysterious fire destroyed the clubhouse, sealing its fate and closing forever sometme in the late 70's.

The property sat overgrown and unused for a few years until it was sold to developers (the property was very desireable for its proximity to NYC). By 1981, the Englewood side had been turned into condos and townhouses, and the Leonia side was filled with single family homes.

And that is how it stands today...with nary a reference or any signage as to indicate what used to sit on that property.

How do I know all this? I grew up in Leonia in the 1970's and heard about, observed, and may have even participated in some of what I described above... :-)

Hitting the ball left with your driver could be the result of a couple of things. First of all make sure your are aligned properly. Place a club on the ground at the practice range across your toe line. Address the ball before doing this. Step back and look at the target and see if the shaft you have placed on the ground is parallel to the line from the ball to the target (target line). These lines should be parallel. Most commonly if the shaft line is left of the parallel then so are your knees, thighs, hips and shoulders. All of these body parts should be aligned parallel left. Correct this alignment and see if it helps. If not then you need to check out your club position at the top of the swing. Practice your take away until you can get the shaft at the top over the tip of your shoulder and parallel to the target line. It should be parallel to the ground also and the face of the club should be at a 45 degree angle to the ground. If the face at the top is "closed" (facing the sky and parallel to the ground, your have good chance of hitting the ball to the left of target. Next, practice this drill: take the club to the top after addressing the ball and start down slowly using your shoulders to do the work. The shoulders will feel as if they are working under the shaft--don't start with the arms! Once the shoulders have started the downswing use the hands and arms to pull the butt of the club toward the target. Stop the club when the shaft is parallel to the ground and the butt end of the grip should be pointing at the target or parallel left of it. If the butt end is pointing left of target this could be your problem. You would be "over the plane and the ball will start left. Remember, the plane is an imaginary flat one that the shaft lies on at address. It extends from the ground up the shaft, through the body and into space. Stay on that plane or as close to it as you can througout the swing with your club shaft and hands. There are other factors such as grip(see two or three knuckles on your left hand at address and the right hand is a finger grip-keep the right palm off the club. But, these suggestions will help and if they don't -as they say- see a pro! good luck, george

A score of 66 for a 9 hole game of golf is not bad, that basically ranges your shots to about 7 per hole. when the par is usually 3 or 4 on a hole.

If you meant to spell the Gulf of Mexico, then no it is not a river. The Gulf is a body of water that spans the entire eastern shoreline of Mexico and some of the southern U.S. states shorelines.

The laddie is not gender specific. Ladies golf balls are usually labelled as ladies golf balls, where as you would never see golf balls labelled mens' golf balls.

"Green" (think like a golf course green). Usually used for addresses that run along parks, playgrounds, or next to gold courses.
