Your question is incomplete. Each mode of transportation is governed by different laws.

The Firearms Owners Protection Act states that, so long as your firearm is legal at the point of origin and the destination, you're protected from prosecution if you travel through a state where it is not legal. For example, you have an AR-15 with two or more of the cosmetic features banned under New York law, and you're traveling from Maine to Texas - both of which are states where it is legal - through New York, you're protected from prosecution in that state. However, if you stop in New York to sleep for a few hours, then you're in violation of that law. That was Dustin Reininger's situation. He was traveling from Maine to Texas with magazines with capacities of more than 10 rounds. He got tired, and pulled to the side to get some sleep. During this time, police approached his vehicle. They saw the gun case in his car, and used that as probable cause to search his vehicle. They found the magazines, and he was arrested and charged. He was sentenced to five years in prison, with a minimum of three before he'll be eligible for parole.

The same thing with how you store and transport a firearm. If you're traveling through a state which does not reciprocate with your state on concealed carry permits, you must store it in the manner proscribed by the state you're traveling through.

Check with local law enforcement. They can check the serial number against the NCIC data base for stolen firearms. This is a National database that is NOT available to the general public.

By technical definition, a paintball marker is not a firearm, but more so in the airgun category (as it's usually powered by compressed air rather than the expanding gases from the combustion of flammable materials, i.e. gunpowder or propane [exceptions do exist for the latter material as few manufacturers did make a paintball marker that run on expanding gases from burning propane]).

all gun control accomplishes is keeping guns out of the hands of criminals that try to buy a gun legally, but almost ALL criminals don't buy guns legally they get them from other criminals, illegally. it is impossible to keep guns out of the hands of criminals because a criminal does what a criminal does best, break the law and get them illegally (Black Market), and since they don't follow the laws making more of them only hinders law abiding people not the criminals, they will still get any type of gun they want because the all mighty dollar is king. Even if we outlawed all guns the criminals will still have them they would smuggle them into the country just like drugs. The only thing that would accomplish would be law abiding people would be defenceless and the criminals would rule , and yes they take the cops guns from them too when they outlaw all guns, look at England . So i see it like this keep the gun laws we have now and inforce them don't wast my tax dollars to make more laws that only hurt me

First, you need to find out if your conviction was for something classed as a felony under federal law or only under state law. If it is defined as a felony under federal law, stop right there. You're not getting them back.

Now, if it was defined as a felony ONLY under state law and not under federal law, you can apply for relief of disability. There's no guarantee you'll get it, but, if you've got a lawyer handy and some cash to throw at this thing, you can at least try.
