The Qur'an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It's prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115. For instance, Allah says: "Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked a name other than that of Allah." (Al-Ma'idah: 3)
What foods do muslims avoid and why?
The Halal (lawful, permitted) and Haram (unlawful- forbidden) foods for the Muslims are mentioned in the holy Qur'an in Sura Al-Maidah, verses 3 and 4. The Muslims must follow the command of Almighty Allah in the matters of food. The verses say, " Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Is spirit vinegar halal or haraam?
it is halal...see this link for an answer from a scholar (very important we take knowledge from "authorities" - we wouldn't accept advice on serious medication from a random person only from a qualified one like a doctor. So our religion should be taken more seriously). JazakAllah Khair

Is no frill's no name slice cheese halal?
I would not expect so. To be halal, a food must be prepared under fairly strict guidelines, and adhering to those guidelines can cost a little extra money. It is unlikely that something marketed by No Frills under the No Name brand would have spent any money on being prepared according to halal guidelines.
Cow cheese in original form is Halal, provided swine fat or some other haram thing is not mixed with it.
I'm not sure about other brands, but Cabot cheeses are Halal. Cabot offers a broad range of halal cheddar cheeses that have met the rules and regulations specified by a supervising Islamic Administrator. All Cabot cheeses, with the exception of Colby Jack, Shreds, Slices (including American), 3/4-ounce Bars and Cubes are certified by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America. Cabot Cheeses are free of all animal by-products, and our cheeses are made without any animal rennet.

Hi, I was troubled by the same question for a long time. The only reason this would be haram is because they use L-Carnitine. L-Carnitine can be from 2 sources: Animal (taken from lining of stomach) Or Synthetic (made from a combination of 3 chemicals) After emailing Monster Inc repeatedly, they have finally got back to me. The L-Carnitine they use is synthetic, which makes it Halal. Hope this helps. Wassalaam
Some may be depending on how the animal it came from was slaughtered. You should check the label or ask the butcher where you buy it.
if you dont know if the Butcher Slaughtered it while Mentioning Allah's Name say Bismillah and Eat
No, Ginger Beer is not halal, because it contains alcohol. Even the slightest amount of alcohol consumption is forbidden in Islam.
It says in the Qur'an, in the 5th Surah Al-Ma'idah, verses 90 and 91:
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (90) Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist? (91)

Kosher foods are those that are prepared following the laws of kashrut (Jewish religious dietary law). (Foods that are not kosher are traife.)
The only kosher flesh foods are from animals that chew the cud and have cloven hoofs, such as cattle, sheep, goats, and deer; the hindquarters are rarely used for kosher food because of the difficulty in preparing the cuts without destroying them. The only fish permitted are those with fins and scales; birds of prey and scavengers are not kosher.
Moreover, the animals must be slaughtered according to ritual, without stunning, before the meat can be considered kosher.
The correct word is 'kosher'.
Religiously observant Jews will not eat any food that is not kosher. The core rules of kashrut (dietary laws) are:
* Land animals must have split hooves and chew their cud.
* Fish have to have scales and fins.
* Birds cannot be amongst those listed as forbidden in the Torah and cannot be hunters/scavengers
* Animals must be killed in a specific manner and must be free of all disease
* As much blood as possible must be removed from meat as consumption of blood is forbidden
* Dairy and meat cannot be combined in the same meal and there's a waiting period between eating one then the other.
* Orthodox Jews and some Conservative Jews will not eat certain fruits and vegetables because it's too difficult to guarantee that all bugs have been washed away (cauliflower, asparagus, and the like).
Additionally, food must be prepared and handled following kashrut. Any food that does not meet these requirements cannot be eaten by those who are religiously observant.
Any foods that come from kosher companies.
Halal in Arabic means "permissible". It applies to all good and healthy things, not just limited to food items, but also day-to-day activities. Halal in Arabic is similar to kosher in Hebrew.
This depends on whether the person is religious or not. Not every Muslim is devout, just like not every Jew or Christian follows all the dietary or other rules. But let's discuss a person who is a very religious Muslim, and who knows what is expected, according to religious law. Such a person, if they violated the dietary laws and intentionally ate meat that was haram-- in other words, forbidden because it was not halal, it would certainly be considered a sin; but if the person just made a mistake and is deeply sorry, they should ask Allah for forgiveness and not eat haram meat again.
As for a person who willfully and intentionally violates religious law on a regular basis, that is an especially grave sin. A person who does that shows disrespect for Islam. That person would be in danger of punishment from Allah, which could include hellfire. On the other hand, repentance is the most important thing: if a Muslim sincerely repents and asks Allah for forgiveness, he or she will be forgiven if the offending behavior is stopped.

The haram things during Ramadan is to eat, drink,to do sex even with your partner,to lie against the God, and the prophets, and to gossip. from dawn till sunset every day.The idea is to practice these things to be used to this practice.
WRONG is the above statement in the sense that eating, drinking, making sex with partner is only haram during fasting and once you do the iftar these things become halal for you.
If the label does not state the source of the mono- and diglycerides, you would likely need to contact the manufacturer to determine if the product is acceptable.
What does halal mean in relation to food for the Islamic religion?
Halal means that the food is kosher. I would know since i am apart of the Islamic religion (i am a Muslim). For example, if it is any candy, it does not have any pork or any part of a pig in it. Chickens are another example, they slay them by hand (fast) from the neck and say god's name while doing it (Allah). Same thing for all animals. They also let all the blood drain out of the animals body before eating it. I think that it is cruel what they do to animals now. For cows they put on caps/ hats on their heads and they put electricity through their body until they die. Muslims don't make the animals suffer which is why we do it fast.
Do Muslims eat kosher gelatin?
When it comes to meats, Kosher is not synonymous with Halal, so no, we cannot eat Kosher Gelatin.
Gelatin is considered kosher by many Jews regardless of its source of origin. For Muslims, if gelatin is prepared from swine or cows that are not dhabeeha, it is haraam.
In Islam, all alcoholic beverages are haram. In the Qur'an, it says:
"They ask Thee concerning Wine and Gambling, Say: In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." (2:219)
Allah tells us in this ayah that the risks of alcohol are much greater than the gains, and Allah knows best. Allah says to us in another ayah in the Qur'an:
O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed. The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain? (5:90-91)
These ayahs tell us clearly that Allah has banned alcohol consumption, meaning that this is haram.
It is wise to note that the Alevi, a sect of Shi'a Islam, believe in an allegorical interpretation of the Qur'an, and they allow the consumption of alcohol, which is haram.
