Well no body can be completely sure but people think that...... #1. The first states that yawning occurs when the animal's blood contains increased amounts of carbon dioxide and, therefore, becomes in need of the influx of oxygen that a yawn can provide. Researchers believed this theory to be true at least since Hippocrates, but studies have since shown it to be either incorrect or, at the very least, flawed. Yawning may, in fact, reduce oxygen intake compared to normal respiration, not increase it. #2. The second notion states that yawning is the body's way of controlling the animal's brain temperature. The process is thought to cool off your brain, much like a fan cools the inside of a computer. #3. Another speculated reason for yawning is the desire to stretch their muscles, prefurably after a nice and resting nap. Rabies is a virus that can cause a wide variety of symptoms in hamsters. Once bitten by a rabid animal, hamsters will develop a nasty and irritable temperament within days and usually die with in a week of the first signs. As the virus progresses, the hamster will eventually experience paralysis of their lungs and throat causing the animal to suffocate and die. Rabies is a virus that can be prevented through vaccination every three years. As rabies is common in both domestic and wild animals, most states in the US require pets to have rabies shots. Once contracted, rabies is usually fatal. This virus attacks the central nervous system, starting at the brain and radiating throughout the body through the nerves. Rabies is transmitted from animal to animal or from animal to human through a bite wound that breaks the skin. The virus can also be transmitted through saliva. Use extreme care when handling a pet that you suspect may be rabid.

only ever keep dwarf hamsters in the same cage, it doesn't matter what sex the dwarfs are, but once other breeds of hamsters reach maturity(such as the syrian) they will viscously kill any hamster that they share a cage with!

Well, it depends......do you have any experience? if not, this is what your hamster HAS to have.....

* food- i prefer Kaytee or Fiesta brand

* bedding- Carefresh ultra is the best in my opinion

* water/water bottle

* cage- i prefer wire cages, don't make it too big, they like snug areas

* a place to sleep- if you don't have enough money to get them a sleeping place like something you can get at a store, make sure you put in a lot of bedding, approx. 2 inches everywhere

* wheel- they NEED to get exercise- not just when you take them out

i don't wash my hamster, she washes herself by using the water in her bottle and spilling it all over herself. Her name is Coco. Here are some other healthy hamster tips... never feed the lettuce or cheese, no matter what anybody says! Cheese clogs their colon and they will die! Also, if you plan on having two hamsters, make sure you know their genders! (When i got mine, the guy at the store said he thought they were two females, we ended up with seven babies!) One last thing, when you let your hammy roll in the ball, don't let it go near the heater! (Mine did, and he died. R.I.P Freddie Boy!) Hope this helped! You probably don't see your hamster when she or he climbs. If you just added something new into your cage, your hamster will be confused because it isn't used to anything new.

They both can be trained and mice usually bite a more often than hamsters do.

im gonna take a wild guess and say NO. chocolate is never good for pets.. ever. not dogs, not cats, not chinchilla lol. it probably wont be fatal to your hamster (assuming you have one), but i strongly doubt it will be good for it. i mean if you think about it, chocolate isn't even good for humans!

You're supposed to keep them in a room that's 60 to70 degrees Fahrenheit, but hamsters have been known to survive in hotter and colder temperatures than that. You need to keep your hamster in a room that has a constant temperature and that isn't drafty.

You don't need one, but it is best to have one. Hamster balls enable hamsters to get a session of good excersise. Although most hamster cages have wheels which provides excersise hamster balls enable you to controll the amount of excersise a hamster gets.

A female hamster can be purchased in several places. A pet store can have a female hamster. You can also find a female hamster in stores like Walmart or Meijer's.

I'm no excactaly sure but it sounds bad.has she been eating somthing different or have a tragic event or gotten an injury latly?I suggest seeing a vet.Good luck!

To train your hamster, I belive you should get the small hamster use to its' new sourounding, and you. Then you can let the pet crawl around in a hamster ball on the floor, and later you can start to call his/her name. After a while the pet will know his/her name, and that is how you can teach the hamster to come. You don't have to say the pets name than say come, all you have to do is call the hamsters' name, that's it!
