Are two hard drives better than one?

from a true gamers perspective, it is my humble opinion that one drive is best. like a chain, a computer is only as fast as its slowest part. and rarely do I feel that the hardrive access time is the "bottleneck". if you have a slow video card then you will see it in the games...does having two harddrives make games run faster? possibly yes. but the difference is not huge. load times will tighten I suppose and if your dead set on extreme gaming performance then you may want a "RAID array hardware setup. which for the most part is TWO harddrives working together. it is faster, more advanced, more complicated and more expensive than just one hardrive. however if your just looking for a solid machine for games. money is better spent on a midrange hardrive and high quality videocard or processor perhaps.

so the short answer: two hardives can be setup to be faster than one and (money aside) will inevitably aid most tasks done by your computer including gaming.

How does a Hard Drive become fragmented?

A hard drive becomes fragmented when a file that occupies a finite storage location on the hard drive is modified and becomes larger. If the finite storage space on the drive is not large enough to store the larger modified file, part of the file must be stored in another location that is not contiguous to the original storage location. Thus the file becomes fragmented. Now your computer must search for the file in two different locations in order to retrieve it. This is what causes your computer to slooow down.

Why computer has not B drive?

The A: and B: drives on a desktop computer are reserved in the BIOS for floppy disk drives. As most computers only come with one floppy disk drive only the A: drive will be visible in file explorer. If a second floppy disk drive is fitted then both A: and B: drives will be visible. Computers used to have a B: drive. It was the second floppy drive. Since people no longer copy from one floppy to another, the B: drive (and on some newer models the A: drive) has become obsolete.

How many partition in a harddisk?

On normal SATA it is 15. IDEs is much more, 64 i think. Or maybe double or trible.

But if you are using fdisk from terminal in linux, it is noo problem to make more than 15 partitions on a SATA. I made 60 before it hit the max. These are empty partitions which are now easily modified by programs like gparted.
