Yes. I spoke with a rep at verizon this evening in regards to this very question. I do not believe they have a STB for sale, however, you can purchase your own box (best buy, internet...) and use it. Even if you have your own STB, you will have to rent a cable card from verizon for each STB you own. It is cheaper this way..cable cards are approximately 3.99 (each) per month to rent.

There is no such thing as a HDMI TV, I think you mean HDTV. The benefits of such a TV is mainly in picture quality; compared to a standard fat TV a HDTV gives you much more stunning colors and video.

No. All satellite TV is digital now. Some satellite TV is HD now, and more will be switching from HD to "standard" resolution.

The February 2009 analog-to-digital switchover in the United States has nothing to do with HD. The digital conversion changes the format of the over-the-air broadcast channels from analog to all digital. But if you have satellite or cable TV, you don't get "broadcast" signals anyway.

As you sending the picture through the scart lead, there should be a simple solution to this issue.

Go into your settings on your Sky box and make sure that the scart control is switched on.

Then when you switch on your tv, then your sky box, the picture will change to AV1.

60hz have more or less been the industry standard for television broadcasts the last couple of years. More and more HDTV suppliers have started to migrate their broadcasts to 120hz in the past year.

so with that in mind lets do some basic math:

A panel that Samsung labels as "100hz cmr" works at a actual rate of 50hz.

that means we are losing 10hz per second from the actual broadcast sent to your tv (10 refresh cycles out of 60 gets lost and dont get displayed on your tv-screen).

Samsung claims that this is ok since they have "image enhancing features" that makes the image "sharper/better/smoother" ....

well .. im sorry samsung, your 100hz CMR dosent make 1080p60 look better .. since im loosing a little more 10% of the actual picture that could have been displayed. Not to talk about playing computergames on a screen like that .. it would hardly be playable (the experience would be a truly laggy one..

I can't imagine you can. You can only watch 3D programming on a specified 3D channel on your cable/satellite service, so there would be no need to disable it. So essentially, if you don't want to watch 3D, don't watch the channel.

More and more is coming out. There are some cable channels like ESPN 3D if you are a sports fan. Discovery Channels if you like to watch documentaries.

As far I know Sony is known for its 3d tv, but LG will also be a recommended 3d tv brand within a couple of days. On 26 April LG has launched its Cinema 3d tv with super-latest FPR technology. This tech hasn't ever been used by any brand. Hence, if you want to recommend a 3d tv brand to someone, just recommend LG only.

A plasma TV set is just like any other TV set on the market. It can accept video/audio signals from an VHF/UHF antenna if it has an aerial VHF/UHF antenna input. It can also accept DVB-C or DVDB-S or DVB-T through the same antenna input. You have to refer to the manual that came with your plasma TV set to see what types of signals it can receive through its antenna input.

If LEDs are overpowered you will see dimming over time. Normal LED screens are not designed to fail that quickly, but cheaper ones may overvolt LEDs to get beter luminosity numbers. There is no easy way to tell which sort you have unless you use digital camera some weeks before end of warranty and get confidence that luminosity is badly down like in half etc.

Hello, to answer your question in a word, yes. It is possible... BUT as you may expect there are size/weight limits to this. Yet with the right mounting bracket (and trusted PROFESSIONAL installer, or at least some one who is TRUELY handy with tools) you can hang up to a 42" dia. flat panel TV in a corner. MAYBE larger, just expect (like most things purchased thru out ones life) you get what you pay for. This said I would buy a great quality product like (in my own personal opinion) Ergotron wall mounts/brackets. Not only do I use them for all of my own personal installations at home (and office) but I always recomend them to my customers before any other brand as well. Not because I recieve a "factory incentive" for "up-selling" them or any other kind of self serving reason. It's due to these few simple facts, one; as I said you get what you pay for. Two; when I have completed an install I have piece of mind that the product will not fail, & will operate as it should. Three; that the (free 10 year extended) warrenty/gaurentee that I offer them for the installation (while yes it does indeed include parts in the agreement) it is strictly a backing of my work/craftsmanship because I know (so farat least) if I were (this is NOT a statement or warrenty/gaurentee or facts backed by the company Ergotron, just one state licenced general contractors personal experience over a five plus year span of flat pannel installations so you can take it how you would like.)
