How do you make your own TV program?
First, have an idea for the program. There are many people who try to make their own TV program without an idea and it shows!
Next, it needs a script or a shooting order. Before getting the camera out, know the type of shots you want. A good production will have a story board that sets out the shots. As you do this, think of the main shots you want but make sure you include some wide shots of the scene to introduce the scene. Cut aways are used to show things that an actor or presenter may be looking at for example. They are normally just a few seconds long but help to keep the story moving and retain interest. Think about shots that capture a town name, a street name or a direction sign. They can be used to tell the viewer the location without announcing it. A good director will have a full arsenal of shots that can be used to develop themes, add interest and keep the program flowing.
Step three - work out a budget for the program. If you need props, or need to travel somewhere or even hire an actor or two, they all cost money. If you don't plan for the costs, it's likely that the production will never get completed.
About two thirds of the way through the project is normally a good time to get out the camera. If you can, use it on a tripod. There's nothing worse than trying to watch a shot when it is shaking around. Try to use a good tripod if you have one or can afford to buy it. If not, then use a cheap tripod. It's still better than hand holding for most shots.
Work to a shooting schedule so you can get the right shots on the right days. Try to make the schedule flexible so you can change what you are doing if the weather is bad, for example.
While the picture is very important, it is sound that carries most of the information. Make sure that the on board microphone will pick up good quality sound or try to use an external microphone.
After the shooting has been done, it's time to load the content into a computer for editing. There are many free or low cost editors around and expensive editors will not work any better in most cases. Almost all editors have 100 effects or more. Pick out at least 97 of those effects and DO NOT use them. Overusing special effects, wipes (transitions from one shot to another) and wacky titles ruin the best ideas. Remeber that the program should entertain or inform, not make a viewer feel slightly seasick because of intrusive effects.
If you have got that far, add the end credits to the program. This is your chance to have your own name on TV as the director, cameraman or editor.
The final step is to get it aired. The Internet is a great way to publish it because it costs nothing to do it. You might also want to think about approaching community channels or public access channels. From your own computer you can also produce DVDs for distribution.
All good movies and programs needs just a small element of good luck as well. So... good luck with it.

What kind of DVD player will play HD DVDs?
To play a high definition DVD, you need a high definition DVD player. There are two types available currently. HD DVD, developed by Toshiba is one and BluRay, developed by Sony is the other. They are not compatible, so an HD DVD will not play on a BluRay player and a BluRay disc will not play on an HD DVD player. BluRay looks like it is the winner in the format war between the two companies over the last years so it is likely that Toshiba's format will disappear in the coming months. Note that HD DVD can refer to the Toshiba format but it can also refer to high definition DVDs in general.
