They all have great survival systems.

The hedgehog is covered in sharp spines or spikes. This protects them from predators by a) making them look unappetising and b) making them too painful to bite or pick up. When threatened, they will curl into a ball to cover their whole body with the spikes.

Penguins are very athletic swimmers. They can very easily outsmart a predator such as a shark by out-manoeuvring them with speed. Penguins also work as a team to try and get a predator off their scent by confusing them.

Cheetahs are fast and have sharp teeth and claws. The teeth and claws are actually designed for hunting rather than defence. The cheetah would rather prefer to run from the threat. However if they need to, they will use their razor-sharp claws and teeth in defence, especially to defend younger cheetahs.

All three also have weaknesses.

The hedgehog is vulnerable underneath, if they don't roll up quick enough or the predator sneaks up on them, then they won't be able to protect themselves quick enough.

The penguin is slow on land, unless they use their stomach as a sled on the ice. This makes if difficult for them to run from land-based predators.

The cheetah is vulnerable to human poachers with guns. Unfortunately they are hunted quite often for their skins.

hedgehogs make better pets in my opinion. They take up a small amount of space, don't shed, can be trained to use a litter box and are very unique. Rabbits and guinea pigs are also very jumpy.

However, the hedgehog does have a few natural predators, including wild dogs, wild cats, birds of prey, badgers, and other various animals. The quills cannot protect them from everything, and if the predators are hungry enough they will keep trying to eat the hedgehog.

Humans too have been known to wrap the Hedgehog in sticky mud then bake them in the embers of a fire.
