Why did astroworld close down?

What other posters say is partially true, but it all boils down to revenue. Astroworld was old, and revenues continue to fall from year to year. The park was not worth keeping.

Two things killed the park, and one led to another. The first was the "season pass." For the price of two daily admissions you could get in for a whole season. That led to a lot of working Mom's dumping their kids off there for the day while schools were out. Gangbangers hung out there as well, and the park became difficult to manage. Hell, they had METAL DETECTORS at the entrance. The park didn't used to need it. "A" led to "B" which lead to a lot of people staying away. In addition, the single day admission was too high for for Joe Blow to justify visiting from Katy or Sealy once a year.

My wife and I went the last day it was open. The many coats of paint failed to hide the poor maintenance and the gritty feel. While we were there when the park opened that day, we could only stay for three hours until the hoodlums showed up and started pushing through lines, talking smack, and doing those stupid gang gestures at other people.

I miss the Astroworld of old, but it is gone and it is never coming back. It truly pains me to say that, as I had a lot of great memories there in the 70s and 80s.

I hear rumors from hopeful people that some other theme park owner (Disney, Universal Studios) is "secretly" buying up land here. The rumors are not true. If Houston couldn't support an established theme park, then they certainly won't support another one. It isn't worth the investment.

Are there any companies in Columbus Ohio that hire people with felonies?

The answer is no. Once you check that box "Ever been convicted of a felony" yes, you might as well just tear it up. I have a felony from over ten years ago...recently I had worked for local retailer...and they liked my work so much they paid for management training and I was due to run my own store in a few weeks, but since I had marked no on my "felony" question (just so I could get in the door to put food on the table). So right before promotion time I told them about it, and only a month after that they decided to fire me for not telling them about the felony when I first applied. Despite how wonderful they thought my performance was, despite that I had proven I could be trusted with bank deposits, crew mgmt ..running their stores...they said policy was policy. According to them, Had I told them up front about the felony everything would have been ok...bs! So if you don't confess the felony upfront you will be fired, if you tell them about it up front you wont be hired...so what do you do?

So I tried to do the right thing, I was up front with every application, yes I have a felony...10 years ago blah blah and after 60 applications and 40 interviews in Columbus Ohio and surrounding areas...nothing! Every interview is the same, they look nervous and cant wait to get you out the door. Always with the excuse "its policy" .

The Government is the worst to try to get a job, not only will they not hire you, they will not cover companies with bond that do (example insurance sales..United Insurance Group...even though I would pay for my own training and license and work as an independent contractor..they cant hire me because some of the insurance they sell is Government based..

So..Here I sit as the bills continue to pile up and wonder what im supposed to do next...Yes I made a mistake..a stupid young kid mistake...fine, I paid for it with time and restitution...I PAID MY DEBT, and yet I still am being punished. I don't want pity I just want a job..that simple. So what am I supposed to do? How did I get Rehabilitated? Im worse off now then ever! Heck Im screwed really, I won't go sell drugs or anything else stupid because I don't want that kind of life, I really don't. However I really understand why people go back to that...sure its wrong but if you need food and nobody will give you a job...? I just want to work. Its funny how people say how they want crime and such to go down, but then when people get out and are ready to prove they can be productive in society..they get nothing but sterotypical responses.

Columbus Ohio, is not a convicted felony friendly city, nor are most nowadays..regardless of their claims, once you get out of prison, you are on your own, and you have to survive somehow...question is how?

One thing to note is, the prison population continues to skyrocket..its crazy and out of control, the cost is outrageous to house an inmate and due to state funds being cut, guess what? alot of these people are being released...what good is prison rehabilition if you never get the chance to prove it? All I can say is they need help, and if cities like Columbus Ohio don't help their own citizens get jobs then they will do what they have to do to survive, I have seen some of these guys and you don't want them running around in your neighborhood pissed off with no job. Its a stupid system and makes no sense to me.

Once you are convicted of just one felony, you have really limited your options for future employement in anywhere, especially Cowardlumbus.

Apartments in Houston that accept renters with evictions?

Problems like Evictions happen to good people who fall on hard times due to divorce, job loss, or any one of "life's problems".

You need the help of a trained apartment locator, like me, who will listen to your needs and the reasons for your eviction - "the story of why it happened" really matters.

Fill out my FIND ME AN APT form and I will go to work for you. It is a free service; you just have to agree to list my name and company so I'll receive some compensation.

By the way, finding an apartment for someone with an eviction, is tougher than finding an apartment for any other reason including criminal convictions. But all you need is a few "good years" of rental history to overcome the problem.

How long does it take to drive from Houston Texas to Nashville Tennessee?

I have driven this route about 7 times to visit family. The mileage is about 1900 miles. Driving time is around 28 hrs. I suggest doing the drive with two stops. I generally find this route tiresome after 9-10 hrs. I make a stop in Albuquerque and Las Vegas. This gives about 9 hrs of driving each day. Have fun!

In Massachusetts can you return a used car because of buyers remorse?

I am currently in a similar situation. I purchased a car today and on the way home heard squealing and when I restarted it, the Service Now indicator came on. This is what I found on the Mass.gov website:

Many consumers mistakenly believe that after they purchase a product they have a "cooling-off period"-such as a 3 day period- during which they can cancel the contract. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The law only provides for "cooling-off" periods in extremely limited situations. If your contract contains a cancellation provision, it is valid. However, not all contracts have cancellation provisions. Be very careful when you are signing a contract, especially when you feel that you are being pressured!

Good Luck!
