A crankshaft sensor, on a Hyundai XG350, can be installed by simply plugging the new sensor into the slot of the old sensor. The sensor can be located on the back of the engine cover.

There are two belts - one to drive the power steering pump near the firewall and the other to drive the alternator and A/C compressor. Each belt has a tensioner. To change, raise front passenger side of car and put on jackstand. Remove wheel/tire and remove splash shield which will give access to the belts and tensioners. Loosen mounting bolts in the center of tensioners, then loosen the tensioner adjustment bolts which can be reached from the bottom of the tensioner. Remove belts, put new ones on and re-tighten the tensioner adjustment bolts. Then re-tighten the tensioner mount bolts to torque spec. All torque specs can be found in the freely available maintenance data available from Hyundai at www.hmaservice.com.

Note: You may want to remove the mirror from the windshield first to make the following steps easier. It's not necessary, but it's up to you. If so, pry off the plastic cover at the top of the mirror stalk, disconnect the power cord, and then pull the mirror downwards and parallel to the windshield to remove it.

Method 1: On the back side of the mirror below the ball joint, there is a small round cover. Insert a sharp blade tip at the top of the cover and carefully pry it out. Underneath is the tip of the tension screw. It has a slot in the end of it that can be tightened with a small flat-blade screwdriver. Carefully replace the cover, inserting the bottom tab first, then snap in the top. If the mirror is still not tight enough, go to Method 2.

Method 2: Carefully pry off the rim bezel of the mirror, starting in the middle of the seam on the bottom, working your way around the edge. The bezel will pop off when you get past one of the ends. I used a pair of heavy guitar picks to keep the latches from snapping back into place as I progressed. Once the bezel falls off, the mirror assembly will dangle from the power cord. The Phillips tension screw is in the center bottom of the case; tighten it to suit, and make certain that the four bracket mounting screws around it are all tight, too. Then place the mirror assembly back in place and snap the bezel back into place, starting at the top.

Generally, you press the remote button once and the alarm arms and the lights flash once. If you press it a second time, the lights flash again and the alarm chirps.

Ok, I'll answer my own question. It appears that the only place to get them is at the dealer. Part number is 18643-01004 and there are 4 bulbs in the trip computer that should all be replaced at the same time. There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) that outlines the replacement process. The TSB number is 04-90-005.

Correct answer:

For 2002 Sonata 2.7 L engine, the crank sensor is located on the left side of the engine (when viewing the engine from the transaxle side) block. You must remove the starter to gain access to the sensor.

Step by step procedure:

1) disconnect negative battery terminal

2) jack car up - use jack stands

3) remove the heat shield covering the starter. they are held by three 10 mm nuts

4) remove the + wire from the starter. 12 mm nut

5) remove the black connector on the starter

6) remove starter nut and bolt. 14 mm bolt on bottom and nut on top

6) slide out starter

7) remove one 10 mm screw holding the crank sensor in place

8) twist and pop out starter

9) remove the electrical connector

There are times when the crank sensor is seized and tough to get out due to corrosion. No way to pop it out unless you pry and break the sensor out. Now you're left with broken off sensor end that is stuck in the hole without any parts of the sensor to grip on to pull it out. It doesn't help that there is no room either. If this happens to you, remove the exhaust manifold and cat assembly (12 mm nuts) and use a flat head screwdriver to chisel away at the broken sensor piece. Spin it around until it comes out. Blow the hole with compressed air afterwards. This is when a 1 hour job turns into a 2-3 hour job!

It's very difficult to change the bulb and replace the retaining clip in place because you'll be working in the blind. It will save you a lot of swearing if you simply remove the entire light unit and replace the bulb outside. Luckily, this is pretty easy, but you will need a short handled Phillips screwdriver because there's almost no clearance.

First remove at least two of the fasteners on the plastic cowling below. This is done by threading out the center piece by hand and then pulling. With two out, you can pull back the cowling enough to expose the light assembly. Remove the electrical connection by squeezing the clip on the top. The light unit is held by two Phillips screws, one on either side. In order to remove it, you will also have to remove the grey adjuster knob, which is another two Phillips screws. Once all the screws are out, the unit slides easily out the front.

Once the unit is out, remove the water seal cover by turning it counter-clockwise. Undo the clip, remove the lamp, and disconnect the spade clip (the wire is attached to the lamp). When you see how the lamp is clipped in, you'll be very glad you did not try to do this in place. It's even a little tricky to get it right on the bench.

Reverse these steps to re-install.

Remove the plastic cover first, but be careful as it is on quite tight and could split easily. The radio mounting panel has four screws that you will need to remove. After that, just slide the radio out and disconnect it.

You must take your car and any other remotes to a Hyundai dealer or other technician/locksmith who has a Hi-Scan tool that plugs into the 10 pin module under your dash (next to the OBD-II connector that is used to diagnose check engine and other codes).

$500-$600 w/ the dealer. They have to pull the radiator out to get down to the alternator underneath it. Happened to me.

It's right under the steering column on the right hand (directly below where you insert the key for ignition) - it's behind the dash and you can feel it if you stick your hand underneath there.

The Check Engine light is on because the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions system on the vehicle. Have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool to retrieve the code that has been set. That code will tell you what part is being effected.

Hyundai suggest you use SP-lll. I have been trying to locate such a oil but the ordinary part places don't carry it. I was able to find an oil that meets that specification and it is Pennzoil-multi-vehivle ATF. You might want to check this oil out on the Pennzoil web site. You should be able to find it at the local stores ie. autozone ect.

Walmart sells Castrol ATF Fluid specifically for European and Asian vehicles. Make sure that you select the proper fluid above as there are two available. The product specifically mentions that it is suitable for SP-111 applications.

1st remove the tire, than remove the brake caliper there are two bolts that are in the back side of the caliper slide the caliper unit off the rotor. on the front of the rotor there is a Phillips set screw next to one of the lug nuts remove it than tap the rotor. You may need to spray some lubricant to loosen any rust or build up. Than replace.

I really appreciate this information and after going to the repair shop and them telling me they could pull the dash out to find the problem ($100 to $500) I decided to try this. I just had a piece of info to add. The repair shop was able to tell me it was my passenger side airbag that had the problem. I fiddled under the seat a little making sure all wires were connected and secure. There was one that was a little loose at the connector. I just pushed it together and turned the car off and back on and that did it. I just wanted to tell that because now I know there are sensors under both seats for the airbag. If the car has been in an accident that could cause the airbag light to come on; if any of the airbags, driver, passenger, side bags in the seat have been deployed that you will need also to change the module. I raccomand to go to a good mechanic and just have your car scanned; thay can tell you in 5 minutes what is the issue, you should not pay more than $60 for the scan.
