As with almost any mp3 player, there is a little switch on the bottom of the iPod. If it shows red, it is locked and the iPod will not work. Try switching it to where it shows silver instead. If that does not work, try resetting the device with a needle. And if that does not work, I would either seek professional help or send it back.

Most Likely On the back it will be green and next to a pink microphone jack

Recently I did same type of evaluation myself as you are doing right now. I was trying to deside where to get cheap iPod and which one will I need. I didn't want to pay $200 for 8Gb nano, that's why I would recommend iPod nano 4GB. It is well-designed iPod, fully featured same as iPod classic, but much cheaper. I got myself armband and working out with it as well. It is very light to carry around and 4GB is good enough for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, etc. If you load only fresh ones. I got mine for $99

Well u got to iTunes then u select the song to preview it double tap on the music it will send u to the album of it then u tap any album go all the way down nd tap more about this song or artist something like that but it's the only 1 on the bottom then it will give u all the music album music video nd ringtones nd there u just buy it nd bam u have a ringtone with ur Dave music

Sorry, but i believe that iPod nanos 4th gen, do not support background customization, and other customization, like, installing apps, jailbreaking, background changes, most nanos don't come with a camera as well, i suggest you buy an Ipod 5th gen, they have been the best iPod so far, according to apple, the 5th gen has made over $1M, hope this answered your question!
