What connection did Cleopatra have to the Old City of Caesarea in current-day Israel?
Cleopatra had no connection to the ancient city of Caesarea that is known. But remember there were several cities by that name. However, her daughter was married to Juba II of Mauritania and their capitol city was named Caesarea.
The Caesarea in current day Israel was built by Herod the Great sometime between 25 and 13 BC. Its construction was started roughly five years after Cleo's death. So Cleopatra would have had no connection to that Caesarea, and it's unlikely that any of her sympathizers would be allowed to even live there, as Cleopatra and Herod were not exactly buddies. However, there was a former city callen Straton's Tower built by Straton I of Sidon on the site of Caesarea in Israel. After the agreement between Cleopatra and Marc Antony at Antioch, Cleopatra was given territories all along the eastern Mediterranean coast and this city was part of her new holdings. She was supposed to have made a tour of her new possessions upon leaving Marc Antony and could very well have stopped at the old city, before it was rebuilt and called Caesarea.
In the general sense, no. Arabs, in general, opposed the State of Israel through war and bloodshed on numerous occasions. However, there have been a number of Arabs who did help to create Israel, primarily among the Druze and Bedouins, but there are some ethnic Palestinians who have actively contributed to create Israel as well.

Why did the un approve the state of israel?
The various nations that voted in the UN to approve the legality of the State of Israel in 1947 did so for a number of different reasons, some of which are listed below:
1) Be Gone & Good Riddance: (written by someone else) Many nations looked on with favor and relief, assuming that all Jews would eventually migrate there, and the nations would finally be rid of them. But even that fond hope was not enough for most Muslim nations, who bitterly opposed the creation of Israel, and after 64 years, still do.
2) Holocaust Pity: The Holocaust bore out two major truths as concerned the Jewish people. The first was that without a government loyal to their interests, they could easily be targeted against and brutally murdered. The second major truth was that such an event was no longer a hypothetical since 6 million Jews were intentionally mass-murdered by what had previously been seen as one of the most progressive modern countries: Germany.
3) Middle East Control: Although it seems odd to say it today, both the United States and the Soviet Union believed that Israel could be converted to "their side" in the Cold War. Given that any Jewish State in the Arab World would be isolated, it would be natural for such a state to create a strategic relationship with one of the major powers. Additionally, a Jewish State might be able to influence neighboring Arab states and make them more pliant as concerns oil shipments. Both the USA and USSR supported the Creation of the State of Israel for these strategic reasons.
4) Solidarity with the Oppressed: Many nations in Latin America supported Israel because they sympathized with the oppressed Jewish people and saw the Independence of Israel as akin to their wars against Spain/Portugal and the internal fights for more indigenous equality.
5) Because It's the Right Thing to Do: There was certainly support for a Jewish State because some just saw it as the proper thing to return Palestine to the Jews. Churchill, who was no longer Prime Minister, held many pro-Zionist views out of respect for the Jews and their contribution to that region of the world.
6) Diplomatic Pressure: Both the United States and Soviet Union pressured their allies and third world countries to support the United Nations Resolution. This does not make the vote any less valid, but is worth noting.
How do you say 'welcome' in Israel?
welcome in Hebrew is "baroch haba" or "shalom" or "brocim habaim"
Why was Israel called the State of Israel when it was founded?
The question may be asking two separate things and this merits two separate answers.
1) Why use the name "Israel" at all and not "Palestine", which was the name of Mandate, "Judea" which was the name of the previous Jewish Kingdom, or any other name? -- Israel is representative of the Union of the 12 Tribes since all of those Tribes are the Tribes of Israel. Israel's mission was to bring all Jews together literally under one banner. So this name was chosen as a unifying Jewish term.
2) Why use the term "State of" instead of "Republic of" or "People's Democratic Republic of" or any other appellation? -- The Hebrew for "State of Israel" is Medinat Yisrael (מדינת ישראל) and the word "Medina" is ancient Biblical Word as opposed to Republic which is Republika (רפובליקה). Thus the State of Israel is harkening back to its Biblical Roots. Most terms that Israelis use for their government are Biblical Terms like Nasi (נשיא) which meant Prince, but now means President and Rosh Hamemshalah (ראש הממשלה) or Head of the Government is the Prime Minister.
What is a kibbutz where can you find one?
A kibbutz is a sort of collectively-run farm or commune, with many situated throughout Israel. Organised along more-or-less communist (with a lower case c, as opposed to Communist or Marxist), they were previously very popular among non-Jewish young people in Europe and America who would frequently take a year or two out from their education to work on a kibbutz but are less so now, partially as a result of the changes in popular opinion on the country.

However, there are still several with various entry requirements. A Google search for "kibbutzim in Israel" should turn up plenty of results.
Why did England fail to carry out the terms of the Balfour declaration?
The British realized that as wealthy as British Jews were, only the Arabs had access to non-Russian petroleum and sought to placate the Arabs for a better chance at having access to their oil. This strategy was not terribly successful and ended up alienating the British from the Jewish Zionists (for failing to live up to the terms of the Mandate) and from Arabs (who would never forgive the British for not entirely rescinding the Mandate and forcing the Jews to go back to Europe).
When Israel was recognized how many Arabs fled?
It is important to note that Israel being recognized by foreign countries was not what caused the Arab flight from Israel. There were three factors that led to the Arab flight which were: Jewish/Israeli attacks on Arab neighborhoods during the Jewish-Arab Engagement of 1947-1949, Arab fear of mistreatment in any future non-Arab state, and incitement to leave by Mullahs and Arab Political leaders who promised resettlement in those areas after the conflict. After the war, which Israel won, Arabs were not allowed the Right of Return which made their flight a memorable historical event.
There are an incredible number of estimates floating around as to how many Arabs left. The most common number accepted by Academics is 700,000, but there are conservative estimates that place the number at around 450,000-500,000 and there are much more liberal estimates that place the number close to 1.2 million.

What theories are there on possible locations of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel?
Answers from various contributors:
There seems to be a theory based on a religion that started in the carribean, according to them they are descendants of one the tribes of israel the religion that i speak of is the rasatafarin religion. Some historians believe the lost 10 tribes of Israel migrated west to populate what we know as Europe, Australia and the United States. However, there is a branch of the Tribe of Judah that is in Ethiopia that are the descendents of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.
Answer 2
Several years ago in Biblical Archaeological Review, an article appeared that discussed this question. Apparently there are towns in northern Iran and Iraq where family names exist similar to those from Israel, which the Assyrians conquered in 722 BCE. Most of the residents of the towns of Israel were carried off and dispersed throughout Assyria, and the remnants of these people apparently still live in these remote regions of Iran and Iraq.
Jewish Answer:
When they were carried into captivity (traditional date: 555 BCE), the Ten Tribes were brought at first to Assyria, but later spread further afield, to points now unknown.
As to the location of the bulk of the lost Ten Tribes, because of the lack of a continuous tradition in this particular matter, we can only speculate. Some well-known claims, such as the suggestion that the Native Americans or African Americans are the Lost Israelite Tribes, we can confidently dismiss offhand. Other claims, such as that which has been suggested concerning the Pathani (Pashtun), are less far-fetched but must for the time being remain nothing more than a guess.
The districts of Israel are: the North (Galilee) , the Middle (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem), and the South.
How does the Dome of the Rock relate to Judaism?
The Dome of the Rock Shrine does not relate to Judaism. It relates to Islam.
The actual "rock" in the Dome of the Rock, is the considered by Jews to be the holiest part of the Temple Mount and therefore the holiest place in the world for Judaism. (However, since Jews believe that only the High Priest can visit such a holy site, Jews are forbidden by religious law to come any closer than the Western Wall.) The Shrine itself is a Muslim holy site.
Who is an older race Palestine or Israel?
The word "race" is wrong here. There are only a few races in the world: White, Black, Olive, Indian, American Indian, East Asian, and Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander. A better word here is "ethnicity".
Concerning Israel: There is also no "Israel" ethnicity. The dominant ethnicity of Israel is Jewish. The Jews have been in existence for at the minimum 2500 years, as verified by historians. According to their traditions they have been in existence for 3800 years.
Concerning Palestine: The Palestinian identity has really only existed since the 1950s and 1960s. It previously refered to any inhabitant of Mandatory Palestine, regardless of whether they were Jewish, Muslim, Christian, or Druze and regardless of whether they were Zionist, Zionist-affiliates, or opposed to Zionism. (For example, the right-wing Israeli newspaper "The Jerusalem Post" used to be called "The Palestinian Post", even though it was run entirely by Jews.) The Palestinian identity applies to those people who historically identified as Levantine Arabs. The Levantine Arabs are an amalgam of different Levantine peoples who began to acquire a new homogenous Arab identity in the days of the Islamic Caliphates. The Levantine Arab identity coalesced roughly 800-900 years ago. Prior to that there were numerous different ethnicities such as Aramean, Phoenician, Canaanite, Samaritan, Moabite, Ammonite, etc. whose descendants were subsumed into the Levantine Arab identity. Since they were disunited, it would be unfair to consider them one ethnicitiy.
Jews (as a unified idenity) have existed for at least three times as long as Levantine Arabs (as a unified identity).
The capital of Israel is Jerusalem.
West Jerusalem was established as the national capital in 1950; and in 1980 the Jerusalem Law made the entire unified city of Jerusalem the Israeli capital.
The Debate
It is understandable that Israel, being of holy significance to 3 major religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and being one of the most fought-over and conquered pieces of land in the history of mankind, will spark a monsoon of debate, as to who owns what. But, the fact remains that the capital of Israel was proclaimed by the Israeli government and this capital is Jerusalem.
The issue that a lot of international groups have with the Israeli Declaration that Jerusalem is its capital is that the city defined by the Israelis as Jerusalem contains both de jureIsraeli territory (West Jerusalem) and the de jurenon-Israeli territory (East Jerusalem) which is owed, theoretically, to a Palestinian State. The UN Security Council Resolution 478 crystallized the international stance on this issue. If Israel, like East Germany, claimed that half of a city was its operating capital (i.e. West Jerusalem - but East Berlin in the German case), many international observers would have fewer objections to recognizing it as the capital of Israel. However, as the official Israeli capital contains territory that is not technically Israeli, many organizations and countries prefer to treat Tel Aviv, a city that is unequivocally Israeli and the site of David Ben Gurion's Declaration of Independence, as the working capital. Therefore, all embassies in Israel are in Tel Aviv.
