I have a 12 ga. double barrel side by side shotgun made in 1936 and a while back I saw it in a book, it was worth about 1800 so I dont know if that helps or not but its a start

You can't tell choke by the sn. Look closely at the breech end of the barrels. There should be some markings on the flats or bottom.

As for being able to shoot today's ammo... I wasn't too sure if I should try and shoot it... it's around 100 years old and hasn't been shot in 20 years. I cleaned the snot out of it and asked a couple of gun buddies their advice. One was brave enough to try and shoot it. No problems at all. Put 40 rounds through it directly afterwards. An extremely fun gun to shoot! We shot some bird shot... low base stuff only. I wouldn't try shooting a slug or anything not considered "low base." Though my gun shot with no problems at all it doesn't mean that you won't have any problems. When in doubt go to a gun expert and ask their advice. If you have a shooting range or know someone in law enforcement they may be able to test it out for in the safest way possible (a machine fires the gun... not a human and the humans are out of the way of any danger).

By that serial number alone, the gun would have been made in 1924. It's possible you have a later Auto-5. Is there a letter above or preceding the 32455? If so, then the following remarks would not apply to a newer gun. Older Auto 5' from the 20's do not command a good price unless they are in really new or near new condition. Most Ogden guns (on barrel) less than 90% sell from $250 to $500.
From your description this appears to be a Flues model produced in 1912. Sousa guns appear to have had a lot of fancy engraving on them. The "S" on the metal on your gun does not stand for Sousa. Judging from gunbroker.com auction prices, your gun is probably worth $350 - $550, depending on condition and how badly a collector might want one.

I don't know the answer, but I know where you can find it. Check your library for "The Ithaca Gun Company - From the Beginning" by Walter Snyder. There's a list of serial numbers that are verified as being Ithaca shotguns owned and used by Wells Fargo Company. Since thousands of cheap shotguns have had fake WF&Co marks added, about the only one's that will bring a premium from advanced collectors (of firearms or Wels Fargo memorabilia) are the ones listed there.
