Hi, I am new to Wikianswers and I thought I would try and help people who are experiencing the same frustrations as I am with manipulating songs within an Itunes playlist. Previously, I have been able to move and rearrange songs freely within my playlist but after adding more songs to an existing playlist, found that I could no longer do this. I have tried all other suggestions on Google but have found that this has worked for me and may for you as well.
My Solution:
In Itunes I clicked on the sort arrow in the top left corner that contains the order number and this must have released the lock on the song order or something similar because now I can drag each song and position it wherever I want.
When right clicking on the sort arrow, untick all the sort categories, then you are free to move your tunes as you want. On a PC.

Must be in Playlist and here's the easiest way:
Click on Controls menu
Click on Shuffle
Click on Turn Off Shuffle
Then click on the song you wish to move and drag to the position you want it.
Done!
If Shuffle doesn't work, try this solution:
Ok, Turning the shuffle on/off did not work for me. The person who mentioned clicking on the sort arrow in the top left corner was on the right track but forgot to mention that it isn't in the menu. It is actually a little farther down the screen & it is the tiny little box with the up/down arrow that sits right above the track numbers in the playlist next to "Name", "Artist", Etc.
Note: Sometimes the up/down arrow disappears so you may have to click on the box in order to see the arrow. You should then be able to move the tracks anywhere you want to.
It'd be nice if Itunes would just tell us these things in the help section but I guess that would be way too easy.

Maybe you need to copy iTunes into your applications folder. Search iTunes on the spotlight on the top right. As soon as you search it it should say iTunes - Applications. If it doesn't click show all and drag iTunes into your applications folder.
If that doesn't work then maybe you need to update iTunes to the latest version. Click the apple button on the top right and click "Mac OSX Updates". It will take a moment to load and make sure it says iTunes somewhere in that list and click install. Let your computer restart (Its not reseting its just turning off and on so it installs updates (a.k.a.) fixes your iTunes as it turns back on.
