Specifically, Janet Jackson (b. May 16, 1966) is known much more as a singer/dancer than actress. In fact, her film appearances are limited to five films and five television series. But in 1978 her brother, Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009), played the Scarecrow in the movie version of "The Wiz," which may be considered a creative adaptation of the original 1900 book edition and the beloved 1939 movie version of "The Wizard of Oz."

Jackson is a common surname name among blacks in North America.
There is no known relationship between Samuel and Michael.
They aren't related but Michael's grandfather's name was Samuel Jackson
Well in Michael's era, if the children did do naughty things, it was common to whip them and punish them. If ever Michael did something bad, his father did the same thing to him. Apparently though, one of his brothers said that when his dad was trying to whip Michael, Michael was just far too quick for him and he never really got as badly hurt as the others did. In the end, Michael's dad would just give up and start laughing because he just couldn't catch him. Michael did once say though that his dad was a physical and emotional bully. Once he jumped in through Michael's window with a mask on in the middle of the night just to scare him and teach him a lesson as to not leave his window open on a night. Michael's dad did make the Jackson 5 practice for 10 hours a day and if they didn't they got whipped but on the other hand Michael's father was very upset when Michael died and he stated that he would rather have Michael alive than dead. I think that he was desperately torn apart- any father would be and I'm sure Michael's dad didn't whip Michael out of cruelty and hatred but only to benefit him because he wanted to see him shine in life. If Michael's dad had been cruel to Michael, it was probably due to the fact that he had been a failed musician and he most certianly did not want anything like that to happen to his sons- his actions were probably for protection and love.
But I'll let you make up your own mind on Michael's dad.
He may have because he admitted that he sang on several of the BEE GEES albums. He had a rare soprano/tenor range that added a special flava to some of the sounds of the seventies
The child (Renee) in question was born mentally retarded. Though she has the beauty features the Jackson family is known for, the right side of her face began drooping before the age of five.
In order to preserve the familyname, Janet made a quick decision to erase the 'problem'. So to her, it was the better solution.
