The crank sensor is an important part of the engine wiring. Without it the engine does not know when to fire. There is no way to by pass it.

If it is a standard:

4High - Put in clutch, use transfercase shifter (shorter shifter) and follow the shift pattern into 4H

4Low - Come to a complete stop, Put in clutch, use transfercase shifter (shorter shifter) and follow the shift pattern into 4L

If it is an automatic

4High/4Low - Stop, Put vehicle in park, use transfercase shifter (shorter shifter) and follow the shift pattern into 4L or 4H

If this doesn't work it means something is wrong with your CAD (central axle dissconnect). Which means there could be a leak in the vaccum lines, or the shifter fork in the CAD is bent or broken.

It will start sometimes, seemingly only when it wants to, and the most telling symptom will be no reverse lights.

Most likely not bad, just dirty.

On the passengers side of the trans about even with the front of the door fan shaped switch held on by two bolts.

I suggest taking it apart and cleaning it before you think about replacing.

To remove, flatten out the retaining washer side under nut, remove large nut, remove smaller ( 14mm ) bolt on the adjustment side.

cleaning is easy, 6 screws in back, pull apart, clean out all that old grease, pay special attention to the two contacts on the sweeper arm, they should move in and out easily as they have springs underneath and are the man contacts, apply new di-electric grease and reassemble.

reassemble and align before tightening, easiest way is to put trans selector in R and move switch until reverse lights come on.

If you don't have 2 keys you'll need to call a locksmith or the dealership. Before you call the locksmith, make sure you have the four digit PIN code to your vehicle. The dealership has the PIN code and will give it to you for FREE with proof of ownership to the vehicle. The can also give you the key code which is helpful at the same time. Add a key when you already have two: 1) Insert one the programmed transponder keys into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the switch to the "ON" position 2) The key should be in the "ON" position for 5 seconds but not more than 15 seconds. Turn back to the "OFF" position. 3) Within 10 seconds, insert second programmed transponder key into the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. The VTSS ( Vehicle Theft Security System ) or Immobilizer System lamp (depending on model ) should start to flas. An audible tone will indicate the system has entered the " Programming Mode ". 4) Within 45 seconds, turn the switch to the "OFF" position. Insert the new transponder key and turn the switch to the "ON" position. After approx. 10 seconds and audible tone will sound and indicator lamp will illuminate briefly. This will let you know key has been programmed. 5) To add aditional keys, repeat steps 1 - 4.

You need the dealers scan tool.

For a very short distance you can put the transmission and transfer in neutral and tie off the steering wheel. But it is always recommended to drop the drive shafts. just make sure to take them lose at the axle. ANSWER 2 I have flat towed Jeeps for years by putting the transfer case in nuetgral, and the transmission in 3rd gear. You will have to either disconnect the rear wiring harness from the fuse plack or install diodes ahead of the taps where you connect the tow vehicle lights to the Jeep. If you have a locking steering wheel, you will have to place the key in the accessory position.

I had a 99 grand cherokee ltd and I've experienced the death wobble. That time for my Jeep they balance the front tires and permanently solved the problem. Now, I have another jeep ( same year and model, 4.7 V8 ) and this time balancing the tires did not solve the problem. It wasn't alignment neither although we think it is. Is actually several problems after my mechanic put it up on the hoist and used a giant clamp to inspect the parts under the truck's front and determined this; worn outer tie rods ends (left side and right side), worn tie rod ends(both sides), The entired drag link complete or kit needed to changed, the adjustment sleeves( both sleeves needed changed). He showed me the problem and I saw that those parts were loose and moving side to side and up and down. So yeah, either tire needs balance, alignment or what i just mentioned here above. And oh, not only my jeep shakes it also pulls to the right when let go of the steering wheel. My mechanic is a factory trained technician and have 20 years of experiences. we when for a spin and he said it wasn't the alignment although it appears that way, is all them parts (under) needed to changed.

i didnt have to. you may check out jeepforum.com that site has many build and the issues or mods they have done. im looking into swaping a zj front shaft for my rear shaft in my xj. they say it will gain you a little length plus add the cv style shaft giving it the slip yoke elimintor touch with out breaking the bank. but all jepps are different you may have (little) vibration but i would say dont worry about it.

pull on the edge of the horn button to remove it - then unscrew the 3 Phillips head screws that hold the inner horn assembly to the wheel ( do yourself a favor and unplug the horn under the hood before doing this or every peice of metal you touch makes the horn sound) - then remove the large nut in the middle of the steering wheel - next get a wheel puller and 2 bolts that thread into the 2 larger holes beside the steering shaft - a couple turns on the wheel puller and it comes right off

I really have not heard the term oil pump switch. There is an oil pressure switch on some small engines that will shut the engine down if the oil pressure falls below a preset pressure. These are not installed on vehicles for safety reasons. You vehicle however has an oil pressure sending unit that keeps track of the oil pressure and will warn you of low oil pressure with a red light, or by way of a gage, or both.

you have to remove the steering wheel and the turn signal. this requires special tools that can be purchased or rented cheaply.
