Do narsissists get depressed and if so what are the signs?
I work with (and quite possibly, soon, FOR) a narcissist and I believe I have seen him go through bouts of depression, but I would not say it is depression as most of us would define it. It is more like days of being "down." He gets quiet, the arrogance and boasting and wanting to be the center of attention are temporarily gone. He is not loud and obnoxious or bragging about one thing or another. He keeps to himself. But these times do not last more than a day or two at a time and they are rare. I would not call it a "clinical depression," only a temporary depression.
