Kinds of Sentences

A group of words having a subject and a verb but not expressing a complete thought is called a sentence fragment. It lacks the necessary components to stand alone as a sentence and may need to be combined with other phrases or clauses to form a complete thought.

Ella walked her dog today.

There are four kinds of sentences:

1) Declaratory sentences make a statement. Ex: This book is heavy.

2) Exclamatory sentences express or show a strong emotion. Ex: I can't wait to see you!

3) Imperative sentences give a command or direction. Ex: Go do the dishes, please.

4) Interrogative sentences ask a question. Ex: What are kinds of sentences?

Verbs can express actions, states, events, or occurrences in a sentence. They indicate what the subject of a sentence is doing or experiencing. Verbs can also convey tense, mood, and aspect in a sentence.

In a day center, you can promote dignity by treating all individuals with respect, listening to their concerns, valuing their autonomy, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that upholds their rights to privacy and personal choice. Providing opportunities for individuals to participate in decision-making processes and engaging in meaningful activities that empower them can also contribute to maintaining their dignity at the day center.

1. A weather forecast predicts a sunny day, but it starts raining heavily.

2. A person who has been procrastinating all day says, "I'm so productive!"

3. A parent, after their child spills a glass of milk, exclaims, "Great job!"

4. A student failing a test says, "Well, that went perfectly."

5. A waiter spills a drink on a customer and says, "Here, let me clean that up for you."

The complete subject in a sentence is the noun or pronoun along with any words that modify it. It includes the main noun or pronoun that the sentence is about and all the words that describe or modify it.
