When the Green Knight first offers his challenge, none of the knights at Camelot are brave (or foolish) enough to accept it. It sounds a bit iffy - and iffy challenges are ones you think twice about.
But Arthur is horrified that a challenge has gone unanswered at his Christmas Party (or Hogmanay - whatever): he accepts it himself.
Gawain - who is the sensible one (actually everybody is sensible compared to Arthur, the poem calls him child3ered - which probably means childish) tells Arthur that if the King accepts the challenge, and it turns out to be dodgy (which it does) then the death of the King will mean the end of Camelot.
Gawain agrees to take the fall, because if the King gets juiced it all goes down the chute.
This is a very funny poem - it is a shame that more teachers don't notice that.

How does Merlin help king uther trick igraine?
In the first surviving mention of Igraine, Merlin disguises Uther Pendragon as Gorlois, Igraine's husband before Uther so Uther can enter the Igraine's castle and force her to fall in love with him. Geoffrey of Monmouth The first surviving mention is in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae, where she enters the story as the wife of Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall. King Uther Pendragon falls in love with her and attempts to force his attentions on her at his court. She informs her husband who departs with her to Cornwall without asking leave. This sudden departure gives Uther Pendragon an excuse to make war on Gorlois. Gorlois conducts the war from the castle of Dimilioc but places his wife in safety in the castle of Tintagel. Disguised as Gorlois by Merlin, Uther Pendragon is able to enter Tintagel to satisfy his lust. He manages to rape Igraine by deceit - Igraine believes that she is lying with her husband and becomes pregnant with Arthur. Her husband Gorlois dies in battle that same night. Geoffrey does not say, and later accounts disagree, as to whether Gorlois died before or after Arthur was begotten (something that might be important in determining whether or not a child could be made legitimate by a later marriage to its true father). Uther Pendragon later marries Igraine. According to Geoffrey, Igraine also bore a daughter Anna to Uther Pendragon, this Anna later becoming the mother of Gawain and Mordred. Yet Geoffrey also refers to King Hoel of Brittany as Arthur's nephew and presents a prophecy that to Uther's daughter will be born a line of seven kings, something true if Howel is Anna's son, but not true if only Gawain or Mordred are Anna's sons. There is confusion here, especially as Welsh genealogies name an Anna as Howel's mother but one not connected to Uther Pendragon.

Code of chivalry say about defense?
Girls must always be protected first, regardless if it puts your own life in danger. Defend the girl. Try to defend yourself after wards. My opinion: There are no cheap shots when it comes to defending yourself from the enemy. Unless, i am boxing, or am in a karate fight, then no kick in the groin/sand in eyes. Remember protecting yourself and others lives matter the most, not how you do it. Do not unnecessarily do anything rash though.
No, he is a fictional character from Camalot and never existed.
Lancelot was known as the greatest and worst of the Knights. He becomes the King's Champion and undertakes quests in the King's name. He becomes the adulterous lover of Queen Guinevere, they have a son named Galahad. This relationship brings to an end the Court of King Arthur. Lancelot was the creation of Chretien de Troyes, written about in the late 1100's. Malory wrote about Lancelot 300 years later when he was presented as a much more popular Knight and became Arthur's favorite Knight. However, Arthur and Lancelot eventually kill each other in battle.
oh yeah. he killed a lot of people. first off, he had to overtake all of the rebel kings scattered throughout england. but that was war- does it really count? obviously as king, Arthur may have had people executed. However, the most heart renching of all is for certain: Arthur killed 39 infant baby boys. Yep, that's right. (Technically, he did not kill them all personally. Originally, he ordered that they be brought to him, so that only his own hands would be bloodied by the deed, but the Knight Anguselus took it upon himself to share in his liege's crime, insisting that if the king's hands were bloodied, then so were all who served him.)
He probably killed quite a few in the Final Battle. He also killed his son, Mordred, in this same battle.
Who was Sir Sagamore Le Desirous?
Sir Sagamore Le Deirous was a racing horse that participated in the Great Eastern Steeplechase in South Australia. During the race Simon Mills, the rider, made an awkward landing, fell out of the saddle, and his foot became caught in the stirrup. Undeterred, Sir Sagamore galloped on and dragged Mills like a rag doll over the next steeple. It wasn't until several yards afterwards, that his foot finally dislodged from the stirrup. Simon Mills ended up with a broken arm (due to Sir Sagamore landing on it with his back left hoof) and a couple bruises. Interestingly enough, the horse continued to race (as he was trained) and ended up in the third place position minus the rider resulting in disqualification. Sir Sagamore was later retired.
Who were King Arthur's parents?
According to most sources, King Arthur was born of King Uther Pendragon and Igraine, who was wife of the Duke of Cornwall before she married Pendragon. Uther, consumed with obsession/love/lust (whatever you believe), rallied his army and attacked Cornwall. In the course of the battle, Cornwall was killed, and Igraine and Pendragon married, bearing Arthur. However, threat of Saxon attack moved Pendragon to foster out his child. Arthur grew up never knowing of his royal birth. Until, of course, he first laid eyes on glimmering Excalibur.
Another legend has it that Uther (who was indeed Igraine's lover) asked Merlin (a wizard) to cast a spell and make him look like Cornwall so he could consummate his relationship with Igraine. She had been banished to Tintagel (a 5th C Harbour/Castle) by Cornwall, who was jealous of Igraine's possible infidelity. The deal between Merlin and Uther was that any children resulting from the union were to go to Merlin. Well, the deed was done and a child was conceived. Arthur. This version goes a long way to explain the relationship between young Arthur and Merlin.
