Elevated blast cells are a consideration when checking for diseases like Leukemia and another disease called MDS,,,Myleodysplasia. If the blasts are greater 5-20% of total cell count in the bone marrow, you will probably start being treated for Leukemia. Over 20% is positive for AML..... Treatment can include Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Bone Marrow transplant and/or Stem cell transplant. I have AML....dealing with it just fine. It's Cancer so it is serious.
