Finding compatible Serial to USB cabels can be tough as they are not all equal. You may have pay around $50-60 for a USB- Serial cable that will actually work with your application. Anyway , go for a Pentinum with as much Ram as you can afford and you should be ok.

In summary, I recommend Alienware, simply because they are still a smaller custom shop that will provide great support, but is now owned by Dell, so you can get a decent deal and a reasonable assurance that the company will be there for you a few years from now. Though again, I don't recommend spending for more than you need, unless you simply want the best no matter the cost.
