A laptop does just that, so therefore it is a computer. What you are thinking of is a desktop computer, which, hence the name, remains on a desk/remains stationary. You should also check online deals and sales (maybe bestbuy or the manufacterer). My sister got her HP laptop for about $350-$400 during black Friday and I got mine about $100 off after waiting for a sale. Bestbuy sometimes only has a certain price available online but you could buy online and choose an in store pick (for some items) that way you get a better price without the wait ;) Good luck!
