In most cases yes it is safe to take this combination. Manytimes doctors use these in combination, because Adderall has a tendency to deplete the body's supply of serotonin. With that said Lexapro is ideal, since it is cleaner than many of the other antidepressants. In any event, caution should still be used, because combining the two drugs increases the risk of Serotonin Syndrome. Also, this syndrome will generally not develop right when you start but weeks after Lexapro has taken its full effect.
Here's why. Adderall causes your body to product more Serotonin. Once your body adjusts to the Adderall your body begins to produce less Serotonin and in some cases less than you did before. The benefit of Lexapro is that it blocks the reuptake of Serotonin, so when your body produces Serotonin it stays in the synapse and continues to work.
When an individual is just relying on their natural serotonin, SSRI antipredesants are not known to cause any problems, however, because Adderall is adding to the effect of the Lexapro and the Lexapro is blocking the metabolism of Serotonin, you may end up with Serotonin Syndrome.
The good news is this condition, while potentially deadly, it is very rarely deadly. In fact, you will usually just feel really irritable and icky generally before things get serious. When this happens, be sure to consult a doctor. The doctor will likely recommend that you temporarily and/or permanently reduce dosage based on the situation.

This is the second part to the answer-- Yes you can take wellbutrin to help lose weight from Lexapro-- I gain 25lbs on LEX and even more when i stopped take it-- so far after a year and 1/2 i have lost 20 pounds with NO exercise at all, it really helped with my depression too. Try natural before drugs because you don't know all the side effects of the drugs - not even the drug company knows the full effect of their own drug. My suggestion for depression is St. Johns Wort or SAM-e (if you can afford it). For weight loss, there are plenty of diet pills that work, but there is no true substitute for good diet and exercise. I found that exersise in the morning makes me feel good throughout the day, it is a natural mood lift.
I take Wellbutrin for Bipolar II Disorder along with Abilify. I am currently at 300mg of Wellbutrin and I love it. I am used to getting severely depressed and having bouts of hypo mania. When on this drug, I feel there is a cap to the "low" my body will allow me to go and when I have hypo mania, I don't go as "high". What I like about this drug, is the fact that my sexual drive isn't impeded on and since I'm a smoker, my cravings are almost completely gone. It is also helping me with weight loss. Your brain is like a main circuit board and medications are given to balance the two chemicals in the brain. The doctor will keep you on the medication for how ever long they feel it will take and when you are ready to come off it please work with your doctor and slowly wean yourself off them. I was on a SSRI and that's what I did and I was just fine. The medication helped balanced the chemicals in my brain and I did just fine after that. Cognitive Therapy and counseling along with this are a MUST and you learn good coping tools to deal with stress. Medications such as SSRIs or sedation's are simply a band-aid.

starting at about 2 tabs I got a pill cutter and cut the pills into quarters like before. I would take 1/4 less every MONTH instead of every week. Every time I reduced I noticed withdrawl effects starting about the 3rd day which lasted about 3 days or less then I would normalize until the next time I reduced.I was terrified of having a seizure but never had any. Once i got to 1 pill a night I felt that the 1/4 reductions were too much so I reduced by 1/8th pill per month, sometimes 3 weeks, depending on how good I felt. I was getting anxious to quit but did not want to go through withdrawl so I stuck with it. It was not too bad, during these times, I felt pretty good most of the time, but would have an occasional bad day. Once I got down to about 1/8 pill and had been on this dose for a week I figured this was not doing anyththing anyway so I decided to just quit. This was a mistake. I felt all the withdrawl feelings again like the first time I quit cold turkey. This time however i didn't go back to my full dose, i resumed taking 1/8 pill again and within a couple days I felt ok again. This showed me that the med was still had a hold of me. I resumed the 1/8 for the rest of the month and then split it again into just a little spec of a pill for another month. Finally I felt I was ready and stopped it altogether. To my surprise, I felt better than I had in a very long time for the first 3 days, then just slight anxiety and insomnia for a few days and that was it. No more withdrawl. It's been 6 weeks now and I feel real good, no more withdrawl. Sure I have the occasional sleepless night or a bad day but I had those before going on Klonopin. Now I can find other ways to deal with my problems than a pill. When I had gone to the internet for info on stopping these pills all I found were horror stories about people having seizures and having withdrawl effects for a year or more. All that did was to make me want to stay on them. I realize that alot of people have alot of worse problems than mine such as panic attacks and epilepsy so I can't say much on this subject. i took lexapro for about 6 months they had to keep increasing the dosage because it would work just for a little while i actually became allergic to the drug because of this. you should have done went thru all the symptoms of withdraw after a couple of weeks. talk to you dr.. as i said i ended up being allergic to it. because of the dosage changes and such. please talk to your dr.
