Yes, I have been on lexapro on two different occasions for some months at a time. Both times I have had breakthrough bleeding which is very annoying. I am only taking 5mg of lexapro but it still happens. My doctor says that both medications are fighting for some liver function which causes more bleeding. I have also been brusing more and if I cut myself it bleeds forever.

Everyone reacts differently from withdrawal or addition of medications, therefore I am unable to answer your question black and white. However, if you were on Lexapro 5mg by the mouth once per day for three months and now, as per your Doctors instructions are reducing it to 2.5mg and then discontinuing the medication you will most likely have no withdrawal symptoms or side effects.

Oh yea!! I worked really good but it made me sleepy, I could have slept all day if I had the oppourtunity. I was having panic attacks in my sleep which would case me to wake up constantly and then I would get depressed from the lack of sleep, so the being sleepy on the Lexapro did not bother me because I was finally able to sleep. Try taking it at night before you go to sleep. That might help because if you take it in the morning, it will make you tired all day, but if you take it at night you might sleep off the tired feeling and have more energy in the day. Also, when I weaned off the Lexapro, I took me about a month and a half and I had no side effects during the weaning process. Just don't stop cold turkey. If or when you try to wean off, I can give some good pointers on the process.

I don't know for sure, but I've been taking lexapro for over a year now, and my prescription ran out a week ago and my pharmacist wouldn't fill it without ok from doc, who was on vacation. This is day 7 and today I feel like I could just fall over, my head hurts, I'm having panic attacks...it am assuming its from the drug...i go back to doc in two days.

Mixing sedating drugs such as Ambien with alcohol can be very dangerous. The nervous system slows down causing respiratory depression which, with higher doses, can be lethal. Depending on how Lexapro affects you, it could causes the same overly sedating reaction when mixed with alcohol. To be wise mix neither, but the Ambien/alcohol combination is quite a bit more risky than Lexapro and alcohol.

Mixing medications can be equally disastrous. An analysis in the journal Health Affairs notes that thousands of drugs can interact in a dangerous way. If your lip is cut and it is swollen, you can dissolve salt in warm water in a cup and use a cotton ball to dab the water onto the cut of your lip. This will burn a lot but it will help heal the wound. If your lips are just swollen but not cut, avoid using warm water as that will only make it worse as the warmth will cause more blood to rush to the area and induce more swelling. You can also try a bag of ice, or wrap a few ice cubes into a slightly damp cloth and hold it against your lips for approximately ten minutes. Give it a few minutes and the swelling should go down.

If you don't want to use the ice, you can also take a spoon and put it in the freezer for a few minutes, then apply it onto the swollen area (be careful that your lip is not wet or else the spoon might stick) and hold that position until the swelling decreases. You can use anything that is freezing cold, be it ice cubes, a spoon from the freezer or a pack of frozen vegetables - as long as it is really cold. The swelling should reduce after a few minutes of absolute coldness.

In most cases yes it is safe to take this combination. Manytimes doctors use these in combination, because Adderall has a tendency to deplete the body's supply of serotonin. With that said Lexapro is ideal, since it is cleaner than many of the other antidepressants. In any event, caution should still be used, because combining the two drugs increases the risk of Serotonin Syndrome. Also, this syndrome will generally not develop right when you start but weeks after Lexapro has taken its full effect.

Here's why. Adderall causes your body to product more Serotonin. Once your body adjusts to the Adderall your body begins to produce less Serotonin and in some cases less than you did before. The benefit of Lexapro is that it blocks the reuptake of Serotonin, so when your body produces Serotonin it stays in the synapse and continues to work.

When an individual is just relying on their natural serotonin, SSRI antipredesants are not known to cause any problems, however, because Adderall is adding to the effect of the Lexapro and the Lexapro is blocking the metabolism of Serotonin, you may end up with Serotonin Syndrome.

The good news is this condition, while potentially deadly, it is very rarely deadly. In fact, you will usually just feel really irritable and icky generally before things get serious. When this happens, be sure to consult a doctor. The doctor will likely recommend that you temporarily and/or permanently reduce dosage based on the situation.

Lexapro should not show up on a drug test. Most drug testing are only testing for illegal substances and pain killers. Since Lexpro is not an illegal drug or narcotic, there should not be any way for it to show up on a test. A test to detect Lexapro would most likely be very specific and not part of any standard drug test. I just passed a preemployment drug test on lexapro.I thing the only way you could fail is if they were doing a specific test for it.

Your brain is like a main circuit board and medications are given to balance the two chemicals in the brain. The doctor will keep you on the medication for how ever long they feel it will take and when you are ready to come off it please work with your doctor and slowly wean yourself off them. I was on a SSRI and that's what I did and I was just fine. The medication helped balanced the chemicals in my brain and I did just fine after that. Cognitive Therapy and counseling along with this are a MUST and you learn good coping tools to deal with stress. Medications such as SSRIs or sedation's are simply a band-aid.

That is an extremely low dosage but you may still experience increased perspiration, lowered libido, and weight gain, as is common with all SNRI's
