How do you replace rear wheel bearing on a 2002 Lincoln ls?

I will offer some info. Maybe not 100% accurate. I have had rear wheel bearings replaced on other vehicles. My wife drives a Lincoln LS now. She needs some work done on the rear end along the lines of wheel bearings. When I had my wheel bearings replaced. They had to pul the housing off the rear end. They had to pull the rear axles and drain all the fluids. There were shavings in the fluids. The first time. The dealer did all that and replaced my wheel bearings. New fluid in. One year later. The rear end was going out again. I took it to my mecanic. He told me the dealer should have pulled the axles and replced the bearings as there was still shavings in those bearings. So, he replaced the bearings and I never ever had bearing problems again. If they do not replace the bearings. You wil still have shavings in the axles bearings. I should have known the dealer would not do it right. You would think they would. But no. They did not. That is my story and I am sticking with it. Bill in Edmond Oklahoma

Lincoln LS Po305 Diagnostic code?

That is a misfire code. It means cylinder no. 5 (front driver's side cylinder) is misfiring. These cars have chronic issues with the seals on the valve cover leajing at the interface between the valve covers and the cylinder head where the spark plug journals are located. Each plug has its own coil and what happens is the journal fills with oil and shorts the coil. Take the cap off the valve cover and pull the coil for the no. 5 cylinder. If the boot to the coil is moist at all, this is likely your issue. You can keep replacing the coil every once and a while ($50 each) or you could do it right and replace the valve cover gaskets and seals. Do not drive it if the check engine light is flashing, because that means a cylinder is not firing at all and the unburnt fuel will turn your catalytic converters into little infernos, destroying them and creating a fire hazard. Also, don't skimp on the plugs-anythign less than double platinum will cause high enough resistence to send a false misfire code. Note that this could be your issue too, if the boot is dry. Replace the plugs if you're otherwise due, paying attention to the condition of each.

Why is your 2000 Lincoln LS losing coolant when it is turned off hot?

I have a 2000 LS. The earlier models were well known for having a water pump leak and also the thermostat housing. The seals were a bad design.

The new part is similar on the outside but on the back it has been redesigned to work better than previously.

But there could be a leak from somewhere else as well.

Coolant systems pressurize when they get heated up. When you shut the car off as the vehicle cools the coolant will find a way to escape, as it's under about 15-19 lbs of pressure.

The Low side Connector port is located on the A/C compressor itself. This is on the bottom of driver's side of engine. You must jack up car and remove access panel behind aluminum wishbone of a arm. There is a black cap on a/c port ... remove it and there ya go! I just did 1 a few minutes ago this way. Good Luck. No need to remove tire & rim assembly.

Where is the transmission dipstick in a 2003 Lincoln LS?

The drain plug on bottom of transmission pan has allen screw in center of plug. If you remove the alln set screw and no fluid comes out, the tranny fluid could be low. The fill plug is on the tail shaft of tranny just above the drive shaft ( top right). Tranny fluid must be pumped in this opening after removing plug. Hand pump can be purchased at most auto parts stores. Slowly add tranny fluid until it starts to run out of hole in center of drain plug ( allen set screw must be removed from center of drain plug) the drain plug is about 2 inches tall, this is the level of tranny fluid in pan. Tranny must be at operating temp when adding fluid to achieve prop fill. Yes there is no dipstick, if your tanny fluid get low, the check tanny light should come on.

How do you change spark plugs in a Lincoln Mark 8?

Start by removing the plastic cover over the engine (I just leave mine off). On the passenger side, remove the intake tube and the resonator. Follow the wires until you see them go underneath a cover attached to the valve cover by 4 bolts. Remove that, and there are the plugs. You will need a 10" extention to get to them, as they're deep in there. On the driver side, you'll see some electronics in your way and possibly the PCV hose. Just remove that, remove the cover again, and there are the other 4.

In addition to the above, I recommend getting one of those metal rods with the magnetic tip, so you will have an easier time extracting the plugs from the plug-wells once you unscrew them. They are available at auto parts stores for around $2.00.

I highly recommend the use of anti-seize compound for the plug threads. The threads on the Mark VIII's aluminum heads aren't difficult to strip, and a seized plug will make that more likely to happen.

Use dielectric grease on the wire-end of the spark-plug, to protect the ends of your spark-plug wires.

Finally, when it's time to install and tighten the plugs, be mindful that they don't need to be in real tight, just snug. Turn them till they seat in the head, then give them an additional 1/16 rotation. DO NOT GIVE THEM A HE-MAN TWIST or you'll be sorry. -JMiles_T
